Dummy Printing Round 2!
Hi,
I have posted this before, and was told to read the documentation (which I
already had in detail) since I have been looking everywhere (mainly google)
with no joy.
If possible I want to tell wine I have a printer installed (write to file
printer if possible) as I do not have a printer but have a windows
application that requires a printer to be installed to run, could anyone
advise me on any

Samba 2.2.7 (See attached smb.conf for Samba config.)
I'm having a speed problem copying files to or from the Samba server
using a Windows 2000 Pro computer. For example, it takes around 2
minutes to copy a 30 MB file. During this copy, I've only got 2 computer
on the network (the Samba server and the Win2k client).
I've checked all DNS issues and there are none--both

Trouble Printing from Win2K machine to Linux Box running RH8.0
Good evening:
I am running RedHat Linux 8.0 on a box that has my Epson Stylus Color
777 printer attached to it. The printer works fine from all
applications on my Linux box using a driver I picked up from TurboPrint.
I have downloaded and installed Samba 2.7.2 and am trying to print from
a Windows 2000 box to this Linux machine. The problem is that when I
print, the document seems to queue up

Problems with Samba as a PDC for Win2K
I am having difficulties running Samba as a PDC for WIN2K Clients. I'm
running version 2.2.5 on a RH7.3 box. Win98 is able to access shares
just fine, as is win2k if it is just a member of a workgroup, and not
a domain. I have tried both the automated process of setting up a
machine account, and the manual method. In the automated case, the
machine account is automatically created, but the

Authentication of user through Win2k to Samba PDC failed
I have set up a Samba PDC with LDAP password backend schema. I found the way of
connecting win2k workstations to this Samba server by setting the
parameter "workgroup" (in smb.conf) to the name of the domain I created
previously in Samba/LDAP.
Once in win2k workstations, I changed the identification from workgroup members
to domain. But when validating, it asked for any user who

I don't have a solution, but I do want to keep this thread alive until
we get it resolved. I'm in the same situation. I can print fine, but
it says that annoying message. Do you guys print to an LPD unix queue?
My linux print server is sending the job to a LPD linux box that is
connected to the printer local. (Our printer support requires it that
way).
Has anyone been able to

question about Samba share in HTTP root dir [repost]
Hiya,
i have had a HTTP directory tree shared out via SMB on my HTTP
development server for a few years with no trouble. recently however
various files have started becoming read-only as far as my Win2k machine
is concerned.
upon ssh-ing into the tree in question i find all the
permissions are fairly open and i cannot see why i should have any
problem at all. i was wondering if this might have
