Log file problems
Hello all,
I am having a problem with Samba version 2.0.7 running on Solaris 2.7 and
the way the log files are kept. In my smb.conf file I have "max log size =
2000", "log level = 2" and "log file = /var/opt/samba/log.%U". All of this
works fine and does what one would expect.
With this configuration on a busy system when the log file reaches its max

Samba client issues
Hello everyone,
I am a newbie to samba. I am trying to mount a Windows 2000 share directory on my linux box using smbmount. I am able to do so successfully. But I do see some errors pop up when I run the command. My mount seems to be stable and it is mounted as rw.
# smbmount "//EngineerWKS85/My Drivers" /mnt/samba -o username=MyUsername,password=MyPassword,workgroup=MyWorkgroup

smb panic when adding printer with apw
Hi,
I'm using samba 3.3.15 as domain member in an w2k8 ad. We're using the
w2k3/xp add printer wizard to add a printer to the server. Since the
update from 3.2.15 to 3.3.15 the apw fails when clicking on the "finish"
button. At the same time a smb panic occurs and fills the smbd log with
the lines below.

Try these two:

should tell you which testparam is being started. Is it where you expect it

samba ldap?
Samba Ldap experts,
I am trying to recompile samba to support ldap. After compiling samba

I have a new samba install with winbindd running correctly.
I have moved folders from the old Win2k file server to this new file server.
I need to re-create the same permissions that the Win2k file server had for the users. The users were in groups, based upon departments. Each department head had RW priv to the department share and RO on each user's sub directory. Each user, of course,

AW: Unable to open configuration file "/etc/smb.conf" (or whereve r i specify)
Hi,
it looks like you have something really messed up on your system.
The size of the file is 1243 bytes (from strace) but 0 bytes are being read.
If you had no permission to read the strace would have looked like this:
open("/etc/samba/smb.conf", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = -1 EACCES (Permission
denied)
A quick look at the source code reveals:
/etc/samba/smb.conf is opened in file_load

Mapped drives gets disconnected ?
Hi!
I'm running a RedHat 7.2 server with Samba 2.2.3a - but recently I have a
problem that mapped drives on Windows 2000 workstations get disconnected and
have problems reconnecting (error message is something like "local device
name already in use" when I try to browse the drive in Windows Explorer).
Any idea what causes this problem ?
Regards,
/Brian
