printing in dos slows
Hi,
I have an issue in dos printing. My okidata dot matrix printer is directly
connected to linux box and is a shared printer in samba . I am using lprng.
My problem is with dos printing. When i print, it spools first indicated in
the windows printer window. It takes a minute before it actually sends to
the linux box, you will see an indicator of spooled bytes. Once it is
submitted it prints

CUPS and Okidata ML 395
Hi All,
Has anyone currently, or in the past, setup an Okidata ML 395 (or any of
Okidata's impact printers, for that matter) on a CentOS box? I'm having
a miserable time with the ML 395: I'm looking for some tips.
I have an AMD Opteron server running CentOS 4 (x86_64). CUPS is running
happily for two Canon imageRunner's (via BrightQ Pro from Codehost).
The Okidata ML 395 is

Printing to Samba printer causes application to abort
I am using Slackware 10.2 (kernel 2.4.29) and Samba 3.0.21c for my print
server. The client workstations are WinNT4. I have two printers on the
linux server..an HP DeskJet 600 and an Okidata B4250. I can install and
print to the HP from any of the workstations. I can install the Okidata
just fine, but when I try to print from Word, Excell, or any application Dr.

"Text file busy" inconsistent problem with newly created files: bug?
I have noticed an inconsistency with the behavior of linux smbfs
mounting a remote win2k server while a file is open for writing:
1) If a linux process opens a file that /doesn't exist/ on the
win2k server, while the file is open, other machines trying
to read the file give the usual 'Text file is busy' (linux) or
'file is in use by another process'

[LLVMdev] buildbot failure in LLVM on llvm-ppc64-linux1
Hi All,
I'm trying to reproduce a failure on llvm-ppc64-linux1 (http://lab.llvm.org:8011/builders/llvm-ppc64-linux1/builds/5382) and llvm-ppc64-linux2 builders caused by one of my patches yesterday. Some of the CodeGen/Hexagon tests failed to compile with stack dump problem.
I tried to configure and build LLVM for PowerPC on my machine locally but don't see the failures. I had to remove

Problem getting Samba 3.0.14a to join NT domain as BDC
Hi list,
This is driving me to distraction.
I have installed the 3.0.14a RPMS on SLES8, and am following chapter 9 of the
'By Example' documentation, to migrate from an NT domain to a Samba domain
backed by LDAP.
I have followed the instructions up to the point where I enter:
net rpc join -S pdc_it -U Administrator%password
Unfortunately, this responds with:

FoxPro on Samba share
Ok, I'm sure you've answered this more then once, but still here it is :
I have a FoxPro 2.0 for Lan application that used to run on DOS boxes
connected to a Novell server (and of course with Novel client). Both
FoxPro .exe, .prg and database/index files reside on the shared disk,
and the client only maps a shared drive and starts the FoxPro
application from there. Due to some

Samba and Foxpro for Unix
Hi !
I have an unique situation.
An SCO Unixware 7.1.3 with Samba 2.2.7a (yes, i know; it sucks !)
On the machine, is running MS Foxpro 2.6 for UNIX (it's running pretty well
for several years) but due to new demands (like Crystal Reports, Visual
view; etc) the directories with DBF files were shared using Samba. At the
beginning, when everything was only about reading, there were no

I have a domU "linux1" which is a paravirtualized vm with centos 5.2. I try

Samba and FoxPro
Is Samba (1.19) incompatible with FoxPro? We have tried to network a
database package (FoxPro is the underlying DBMS) by putting it in a Samba
share. The database starts up and you can browse the tables, but it looks
as though FoxPro's record locking system causes the entire share to be
locked, so that further access to the shared drive (both in FoxPro and in
the Windows98 Explorer) is

Back-up differences. Raspberry Pi and Fedora
I am using the 'backup to a central backup server with 7 day
incremental' example to archive three separate computers to identically
configured (apart from name) shares on a Western Digital 'MyBookLive'
NAS which has rsync enabled. The backup from two Raspberry Pi Computers
operates without a problem but the backup from a Fedora 32 computer
