XP SP2 offline files sync delay (again)
I'm running Samba 3.0.7 on Mandrakelinux 9.2 as a PDC, with a few shares
from the PDC and more on a separate Mandrakelinux 10.0 member file
server, also running Samba 3.0.7. The passdb backend is LDAP and
clients are all Windows XP Professional SP1. Except for the below,
everything works great!
We make heavy use of offline files, and with Windows XP SP1, all is
well. However, when I

policies do not get applied with w2k sp2
we are using samba 2.2.3a-6 for debian (woody) and found that our w2k machines
do not apply the ntconfig.pol when sp2 is installed. (the sp1 machines do)
Is there a way around this?

Offline folders and XP SP2
Hi All
Various versions and patches of Samba (2&3) seen this on a number of sites
now. XP SP 2 will report a server off line, and go offline, typically after
being connected to a network for 1-2 mins. Mainly all sites running Mandrake
Linux 9.2 or 10.0 with default shipping Samba.
Removing off line folders or SP2 solves the problem. There is no bandwidth
or networking issues.

roaming profiles Samba 2.2.3a and W2K SP2
Hello samba-insiders,
we have a WinNT 4.0 SP5 PDC and our samba 2.2.3a is member of the domain.
The roaming profiles of our clients stored on the samba 2.2.3a server.
All seams to be perfect but clients with W2K SP2 cannot use there roaming
profiles.
---> "Access Denyed" is the W2K error message.
But if the same user loggs on on a client machine with W2K SP1 all things
are ok.

XP SP2 and slow logins/offline files sync: RPC changes?
I posted a while back (twice, actually), about some long delays with
offline files sync and, to a lesser extent, domain logins with Windows
XP SP2.
This is Samba 3.0.7 (ldapsam backend) on Mandrakelinux 9.2 and 10.0,
with XP SP1 clients. I make use of WINS and everything works fine for
SP1 clients.
Here's what I found since then: after the client is joined to the Samba
(NT) domain,

I'm sure all permissions

Antwort: roaming profiles Samba 2.2.3a and W2K SP2
Hi Rene,
I have found this in the "whats new" for Samba 2.2.3
Added/changed parameters.
-------------------------
...
nt acl support
This parameter has been changed to a per-share option, and is very
useful in enabling Windows 2000 SP2 to load/save profiles from a
Samba share.
...
Maybe it helps!

XP SP2 client doesn't find netbios alias servers
After upgrading XP to SP2, I can no longer connect to server aliases.
The client reports an error 53, "The network path was not found", when
doing "net use * \\prof\profile.
Mapping to a share on the real netbios name works fine.
Anyone else seen this?
Setup:
samba-3.0.6.rc2
smb.conf

netbios aliases = PROF
include = /etc/samba/smb.%L

XP SP2 connecting to 3.0.10-1.4E
I have been running our companies XP Pro systems on our Samba domain
controller (version: 3.0.10-1.4E) with local administrative rights up to
this point. Everything has worked fine.
We are getting larger now and I'd like to make the logins locally
restricted (I want them to have XP's "Users" rights and "Remote Desktop
Users" only). When I restrict the accounts

CSC-policy and offline files
I have not been able to find anything similar to this in the archives...
So, can anyone help me out with the csc-policy? What version of SAMBA was
this introduced in? I am currently running 2.2.3 and am finding that some
of my XP users as well as one W2K user are running out of disk space on
their machines - their client side caches are filling up. The folders that
they are syncing to on the

user on W2K SP2 SERVER cannot auth on samba PDC (but W2K WS yes)
Client = W2K OS Server SP2 but not server for anything except a shared

I've just built a brand new domain with samba as PDC.
I did not have any problem with W98, NT WS, NT Server, 2K WS and XP WS.
All of these joined the domain successfully and users are happy.
But, a user in the company runs a W2K SP2 os SERVER as workstation.

Problem with W2K SP2 and Samba 2.2.2
Hello
I have a problem with client in W2K SP2 (not with SP1 or NT4).
I use a samba server (solaris 2.7/samba 2.2.2) and a PDC (NT4SP6).
When a user open a session, the home directory of the user is not
connected. But, after, if I connect a network drive, it is correct.
So, I think that is not a problem of password
(EnablePlainTextPassword = 1 on W2K and security=user on samba
server).

Did you join the domain *before* or *after* you installed sp2?
Could you send me the netlogon

AW: Samba 2.2.1 and W2k SP2
Hi,
at first, you have to use Samba Version 2.2.1 or higher.
When you try to join the domain you have to give the root password, to
authorize that the
Client joins the domain.
I don't know special HOWTos for w2k client, only the original PDC HowTo on
www.samba.org.
