PROBLEM: I/O stalls when running fstress against multi-device fs
Chris: I can consistently reproduce I/O stalls when running fstress (as found in Autotest) against a six volume btrfs filesystem mounted without options. The volumes are independent disks from RAID controllers, and the test systems are eight core Intel and AMD machines running current btrfs-unstable. The stalls occur at variable times into the runs. The affected system ceases to do I/O

Rtools install on new Windows 8.1 desktop stalls with "Not responding"
Hello, When I try to install Rtools in the usual way into C:\Rtools on a new Windows 8.1 desktop it stalls near the beginning of the "Extracting files..." step. The Task Manager Status for the Setup app shows "Not responding" and it takes a long time to complete the installation, in spite of the fact that this is a fast machine (Intel i7) with 16 GB if RAM. There were no

smartd stalls the system on reboot
I have begun to notice that the smartd stalls my machine's boot process for as much as 2-3 minutes while it is coming up. I have the BIOS SMART function enabled, and I removed the bad SG400GB drive from the box yesterday, but I think this goes back farther than that. Why does it take so long? Is the BIOS SMART involved in this (and how)? Also, sendmail and sm-client take 30s-2m to come up

Download to ext3 partition stalls (sans HTML crap)
(Sorry about the duplicated mails, my mailer stinks.) Hi ext3-gurus, I was doing some testing of our 100 Mbit ethernet at work, and found a weird problem which appears to be ext3 releated as far as I can tell. The test is very simple. I use ncftp to connect to another machine running vsftpd and download a very large file over the network. The network is switched, and I get 8-10 MB/s transfers

Rsync stalls
I am trying to rsync a machine running CYGWIN_NT-5.2 server 1.5.24(0.156/4/2) to another which runs FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE; both with rsync 2.6.9. I'm trying to "pull" the files from the Cygwin machine with: /usr/local/bin/rsync -avz --delete --delete-excluded -e "ssh" [user]@[host]:"/cygdrive/e/Shared" /home/[host] However, rsync stalls. This seems to be

Pulling stalls before 52MB (works via netcat)
I can push fine over ssh but pulling via rsync or scp always stalls at about the same point which must be between 26MB and 52MB. I can pull via netcat just fine. I've tried compiling HPN out of the install on both the client and server and I've tried -C on the client with the same result. I'm on Gentoo. Any ideas? - Grant

LP print service stalls
Hi All, When our server receives simultaneous print jobs from 2 or more clients, the print service stalls and I have to manually restart it (lpsched). I am running Samba 2.0.4b under Solaris 2.5.1 on a SPARC 20 and I'm using system V printing. The printers are connected to the ethernet using HP Jetdirect cards and administered by jetadmin on the Sun box. Any ideas on how I could troubleshoot

rsync stalls at .sparsebundle directories on OS X‏‏
Hi. I try to make backups from one disk to another. I have .sparsebundle[1] directories on the source drive (/Volumes/data/). When rsync reaches the first .sparsebundle it stalls and stays there until i ctrl+c. I'm using OS X Yosemite and rsync version 3.1.1 protocol version 31 installed via homebrew. However, I had this problem on OS X Lion too using rsync 3.0.9. Actually, the reason I

rsync huge files from cygwin to linux stalls - bug?
hi there i'm trying to backup a 3gig directory with about 100.000 files from a windows pc to a linux box with rsync but the process stalls (hangs). setting a "--timeout 60" shows me that the i/o stalls. doing the same with smaller directories works perfectly but the whole 100.000 files seem to be too much. the process hangs before the file list is done. rsync doesn't start

Imaptest stalls when removing msgs argument
I have had this imaptest[1] stall. I compared this command with what you have on the website and I was a bit surprised that what is on the website is working. What I have noticed is that if you remove this msgs argument, the imaptest stalls. I am not sure if this is according to design, but one might expect that specifying a secs, makes specifying msgs redundant? [1] imaptest - append=100,0

I'm using packaged 4.6.2 samba, on Centos 7, running on as KVM VMS. Both machines I am running exhibit the following behaviour: - I want to copy a large folder structure with 50000 files. robocopy /E

rsync hangs/stalls on long filenames
Hi! I'm using (the excellent) rsync utility to do backup on several large www-servers. The backup machine runs in daemon mode. However, once in a while the backup hangs/stalls eternally. Using lsof I've been able to determine that this happens only when rsync has reached some file with an unusually long path. Details: ### General ### - Both machines involved run linux, kernel 2.4.19 -

rsync stalls -- sleeps indefinetly
Dear Developers First of all I would love to thank you for a nice tool I had been using rsync within backuppc project to backup my remote hosts. It had been working fine until the moment (as I think) whenever I moved RAID to another box and now the source directory (/raid/research) is now actually NFS mounted. Now backup (rsync process) stalls and sleeps indefinitely On the backup server:

[Mongrel?] Reload on file upload stalls process
If I just click the submit button on a file upload page, it works fine, but if I click the browsers reload button on the submitted page (yeah, I should redirect after a successful submission), the Mongrel ruby process maxes out the CPU and never finishes (requiring stopping the mongrels and killing the cpu-maxing ones). Any idea why it does this? Joe -- Posted via

tftp-hpa loads but stalls
Hello, I am attempting pxelinux via dhcpd/tftpd. If I use the system default tftpd daemon, then pxelinux loads but then complains about the tsize option. I've downloaded tftp-hpa-0.34, compiled and installed. I also edited inetd.conf according to README.security and then reloaded inetd. /tftpboot directory and all files and directories have nobody:nobody for permissions with at least read
