Reg. strings and numeric data in matrix.
Hi All,
Sorry for this basic question as I am new to this R. I would like to know,
is it possible to consider a matrix with some columns having numeric data
and some other's with characters (strings) data? How do I get this type of
data from a flat file.
Thanks very much,
mallika

Change defaults to data=journal on /
How come if I install a fresh redhat 7.2 system and change fstab from
defaults to data=journal for the / file system, it breaks everything?
Thanks,

enable fulldata journaling
Hi,
well I've deployed ext3 on two machines already and so far it does its
job excellently at no (for me) noticable performance loss. I hope it
gets incorporated into stock kernels by Linus soon.
Anyways I've been hearing about ext3 supporting full-data journalling
on a per-file basis but couldn't find any detailed info about it. Even
tried grep'ing throught the source. How

Changing journaling mode on root / loop-aes
EXT3 developers:
I am curious, if EXT3 is currently being used on the root
partition in "data=ordered" mode (the default as I understand), and I
want to have the it come up in data=journal mode, how do you effectuate
this conversion? I would also be curious how to know if anything special
is required for doing so for the /boot partition as well. I believe that
with the /home partition,

hd sometimes 'hangs' a few seconds
hi,
I recently changed my filesystem to ext3 (from ext2), and since then, my hard
disk sometimes seems to 'hang' a few seconds (in fact the whole system hangs
then, and only the hd LED is on), before continuing normally... This happens
for example (not always though) when I untar an archive and try to ls in the
newly created directory...
Is there an explanation for this?
And if so,

turning off journaling on the fly?
Dear penguin lovers, =)
I'm running Linux (2.6) on a satellite receiver with
harddrive. The latter is formated in ext3.
So far, everthing works fine.
Now here's the small problem:
The receiver is in the same room I sleep in and when it
records at night time I can hear the journaling going on
(heads clicking - even though the HD is set to silent mode
via hdparm). This is surely due to the

Dear R-helpers,
I have a data frame that is similar to the one below.
The row names are species and the E1, E2, E3 columns are presence/absence for a given site. I have an additional column 'origin' which has information about the species.

Informes periódicos con R
Hola

ext3 + loop + journaling
[ If this is explained somewhere else (HOWTO or FAQ), please give me a
pointer. ]
Is there any way to mix loop-device (and in particular) loop-AES and ext3
together in data journaling mode?
Ie.
bottom -> to -> top
ext3 - loop-AES - ext3
raw - loop-AES - ext3
Or am I shooting myself to leg, I am?

[SUMMARY] 2 Linux boxes, failover, & 1 EXT3 RAID
Hello,
Many warm thank yous to Bill Rugolsky Jr. and Stephen Tweedie for their help on
this one. Both pointed out that since the file system is journaled, if the
primary box (nas1) were to crash, the secondary box should mount the ext3 file
system without any problems. Depending on the nature of the journal (metadata
journaling and/or data journaling), we may have little or no data loss.

Question about Journaling Root Filesystem.
I am trying to use data=journal on my root file system. I have separate
slices on which journal=data works fine on all of them, except root. I
have tried putting rootflags=journal=data on my kernel line in Grub, but
I get a kernel panic. I'm missing something simple, I jut know it. It
can't be the kernel version because it works on the other slices. My
etc/fstab file is as follows:

Duplicate winbind uid/gid
We've encountered the following problem on our Redhat 7.2/XFS box
running samba 2.2.3 with winbind and acl support. This week, some local
accounts were created on the samba box for the installation of djb's
dnscache. In addition, some NT domain accounts were also created on
the NT4 PDC. The samba box is configured to use the NT4 domain for
authentication; none of the local accounts

Ordered Mode vs Journaled Mode
Hi,
I've been wondering exactly what you gain by using journaled mode over
ordered mode.
Are there any known cases where journaled mode could recover where ordered
mode wouldn't?

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] cindex.py using find_library
Hello all,
Is there a reason why the library location code in cindex py does not use
find_library() to locate libclang, like in the attached patch?
Without it there were problems locating a versioned libclang.so.1 file on
Debian, for example.
Cheers,
Mihai

tamaño de rolling window (series temporales)
Hola!!
- Train: 1 año + 1 día, test: día 2 -->

mode data=journal in ext3. Is it safe to use?
Hello
I try again.
Can anybody of you acknowledge or not if mode data=journal in ext3 is
safe to use in Linux kernel 2.6.x?
Wee need to have a very consistent and integrity for our filesystem, and
it would then be desired to journal both data and metadata.
But if this mode can corrupt the filesystem as both Phil White and
Nicolas Kowalski has experienced, it may be more advised to use mode

TEST DE SEPARABILIDAD CON R
Buenas tardes:
