kickstart fails statically built custom kernel: anaconda doesn't honor static NIC/SATA driver in kernel?
Kickstart fails for statically built custom booting kernel, although the custom kernel is built form the same version stock kernel source. My anaconda and kernel source are both of stock versions on Centos 5.
At the kickstart 'F3' screen, the following error messages appear:

booting erro on FC3
I''m a newbie. :)
I followed the steps written by Jerone Young:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=10562241
but i found an error at the 17th step:
17. mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.10-xen0.img 2.6.10-xen0
it said:"No module ata_piix found for kernel 2.6.10-xen0, aborting."
so I commented the line of "module /boot/initrd-2.6.10-xen0.img" in the

Strange Fedora Booting problem: can not mount "LABEL=*"partitions
Hi, Theodore,
Thanks for your tests. But I got the problem and got it FIXED by
flushing out the contents of /etc/blkid.tab before cloned clients
reboot.
I'm using the e2fsprogs-1.34-1 comes with Fedora Core 1.

Strange Fedora Booting problem: can not mount "LABEL=*" partitions
Hi,
Just got Fedora FC1 vanilla 2.4.25kernel+libata8patch booting problems, FC1 complains that it can not automatically find&found partitions specified with "LABEL=" in /etc/fstab, and then falls me into repair mode. In the repair mode I can mount it manually without any problems. More interesting are: 1) I have several partitions specified with "LABEL=*" in

ananconda update.img creation fails: generated but with wrong python version in /usr/sbin/anaconda contained
Hi all,
I've created an anaconda update.img file per instructions at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Anaconda/Updates for Centos 7.2. The problem is that the update.img file contains references to python3 (say, file /usr/sbin/anaconda), and so the all installation fails immediately. My question is: what are the steps to create an anaconda update image appropriate for a particular centos

RE: BIG Bug on Linux EXT3 file system, or "/bin/ls" problem?? Pl ease Help!!!
Hi, Marc,
Thanks for your help!
a "ls -alFs" command shows the difference, Theodore Ts'o talked about it at
https://listman.redhat.com/archives/ext3-users/2003-January/msg00008.html.
Both File system and "/bin/ls" contains no bugs, my knowledge databse in my
mind got lots of ""Bugs" instead. :)

CentOS 5.3 Anaconda nic device ordering
I have a bunch of HP BL465c G5 blades, with additional dual-port network
adapters. The onboard interfaces use the bnx2 driver, while the
expansion card uses tg3.
All 4 interfaces are detected by both Anaconda and the installed system,
but Anaconda is reversing the ordering:
Anaconda:
eth0 Card 2, Port 1
eth1 Card 2, Port 2
eth2 Card 1, Port 1
eth3 Card 1, Port 2

rebuilding anaconda for centos 4.0
Hi all:
I'm trying to rebuild the anaconda installer for Centos 4.0 (i386) to add some
RPMs and do some other things, and I've run into a problem. I've done lots of
anaconda rebuilds for Tao Linux 1.0, and I'm bringing those bits forward into
Centos 4.0. The all-knowing web hasn't turned up anything useful. It looks
like the PXE-loaded kernel unpacked and mounted the

CAS signalling conflicts with Clear channel
Hi,
My asterisk server was working with a 4-FXO analog
card (TDM400P).
I recently added two digital cards: a TE120P (1 PRI)
and a B410P (4 BRI).
The B410P is still unconfigured but inserted in a PCI
slot.
The TE120P's jumper is set to E1 as it will connect to
a commercial PBX's PRI card also configured as E1.
My analog channels used to be 1-4 but since I added
the new cards I changed

HP DL140G2 and SATA woes
Posted a similar version of this to the RHEL4 list...
I''m having trouble getting CentOS 4.2 installed on a DL140G2 with two SATA
drives. I am doing a PXE install, so I do not have a CD-ROM drive in the
system and this appears to have the side-effect that both SATA drives are
caught by the Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver before ata_piix can catch
it.
As soon as I hook an IDE CD-ROM

a anaconda test problem
I am building a latest CentOS5 and every newest stuff is ready. All are
in directory "/linux/CentOS/5-respin/os/x86_64". My OS is CentOS5 too. I
want to add some other pictures during installation process, so anaconda
adjustment is needed.
When I run command "anaconda --test

I'm trying to install Centos 5.2 on an "old" machine in graphical mode (to use

I made several tries with various installation resquest (the last

anaconda and x86_64
I'm trying to build a bugfixed anaconda package for 5.3 x84_64, but there
are some fairly basic failures, like pkg-config .pc files not being found.
When I modify the spec file accordingly, linking fails because installed
libraries are not found.
