ext2online failure
Could someone tell me what could be causing this failure on my system and a
way to get around/fix it? Your help is very much appreciated.
I'd just finished running lvm lvextend. "lvextend -L+L1G
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00", after adding a new 1G partition (/dev/sda4) to
/dev/VolGroup00.

htree and Severn
My reading of the kernel.src.rpm doesn't indicate that Severn has ext3
htree patches. Stephen, were there any issues seen during Cerberus
testing ?

the problem down to its simplist form, and it goes soemthing like this:

Shrinking a ext3 filesystem ?
I installed CentOS on my home-server with 2 IDE 160GB MAXTOR HDD /
RAID-1, LVM and ext3 partitions. Previous OS on this machine was FC2.
I often "play" with LVM and, sometimes, have to extand or reduce some
volumes size. I was surprised to see that resize2fs isn''t included
anymore !
The replacing tool is ext2online but this one seems to only be able to
grow a filesystem (not

extending ext3 filesystem on logical volume
hello all,
I am trying to expand my /var file system which resides on a logical

to issue the ext2online command I receive a return code of 3 which the
man pages indicates:

ext2online with 1k blocks not working
Hello,
As a Virtuozzo users we have majority of our diskspace formatted with -i 1024 -b 1024.
Lately I discovered that on CentOS 4.6 ext2online barfs when I try to grow such filesystem. Running it with -v -d, it prints lots of lines like:

Write-behind breaks Mercurial
Hi all
It seems Mercurial doesn't work with "write behind" on. Any ideas?

Recovery of RAIDZ with broken label(s)
Hi all,
I have a 5 drive RAIDZ volume with data that I''d like to recover.
The long story runs roughly:
1) The volume was running fine under FreeBSD on motherboard SATA controllers.
2) Two drives were moved to a HP P411 SAS/SATA controller
3) I *think* the HP controllers wrote some volume information to the end of
each disk (hence no more ZFS labels 2,3)
4) In its "auto

ext2online production ready?
hello,
on Slackware 9.1 I have e2fsprogs 1.34 and lvm 1.0.7.
In lvm package I have e2fsadm command;in e2fsprogs package I have resize2fs command.
In man page for e2fsadm it refers to ext2online to extend a mounted file system, but I have not that command.
Where can I find it?
On my system I have resize2fs. is it the same of ext2resize or they are different programs?
Are they mantained in parallel?

ext2online / ext2resize
I'm running CentOS 5.2 x x86_64.
I did an lvextend of a logical volume, and proceeded to run one of the
ext2 utilities (e.g. ext2online, ext2resize) and found to my surprise
that it wasn't on there.
So I started googling around, and as far as I can see, though I'm not
sure, they're supposed to be a part of the e2fsprogs package.
Well, it's installed on the system, at least

link-dest question
The command below was run on FreeBSD 7.2 with rsync-3.0.3.
The command works but copies all files, i.e. no hard links created.
rsync -vaxH --numeric-ids --delete --exclude=/home/apache/logs \
--link-dest=/mnt/200912/newharbor/home -e ssh newharbor.safeport.com:/home \
201001/newharbor/home/
The command was run without the continuation breaks that I added for
readability. The command

Files are duplicated after renaming (with glusterfs+zfs-fuse)
Hi all,
I installed glusterfs (version 3.1.3) with zfs-fuse (0.6.9) as the
underlying filesystem.
After renaming a file, I found the file duplicated.
Following is my test scenario.
root at ubuntu:/# zpool create tank /dev/sdb
root at ubuntu:/# gluster volume create test-volume ubuntu:/tank/exp1
ubuntu:/exp2
root at ubuntu:/# gluster volume start test-volume
root at ubuntu:/# mount -t glusterfs

Data loss (corruption with rsync)
Hello,
I just rsync'd my 1TB partitions formated with jfs filesystem
containing ~720GB data. I saw -3G difference between source and
destination which made me suspect possible dataloss. Also I had
experienced loss of integrity on my previous copies but I did not find
the cause until now.
As command line I used following:
sh-3.2# rsync --verbose --sparse --append-verify --fuzzy --progress

Size of journal and resize

I have some large Partiton at 2 GB, 4 GB, 7 GB, 13 GB, 25 GB. How
big I need the journal for its?
Could I resize ext3fs with resize2fs, ext2resize-1.17 (with
ext2prepare, ext2online), parted-1.4.21 Tools?
The Partititons Magic 5.0 I can't use with ext3 only with ext2.

Weird issue with gluster mount
Hey guys,
I have a weird issue with my glusterfs mount point.
I'm trying to touch it on one machine:
root at il-bi-s01:/mnt# touch gfs
touch: setting times of `gfs': Invalid argument
But on another machine, it works:
root at diablo /mnt # touch gfs
root at diablo /mnt #
On both machines the mount is working fine, I'm just wondering what's up with this?

Need Help Invalidating Uberblock
I have a ZFS pool that has been corrupted. The pool contains a single device which was actually a file on UFS. The machine was accidentally halted and now the pool is corrupt. There are (of course) no backups and I''ve been asked to recover the pool. The system panics when trying to do anything with the pool.
