httpd and robots.txt
would anyone out there care to share their robots.txt experience using centos as a webserver and their robots.txt files? i realize this is a somewhat simple exercise, yet i am sure there are both large and small hosters out there and possibly those that have high traffic modify their robots.txt files differently that others ??? please share if you can or care to please? for years we have just

robots.txt best practices
I''d been ignoring this error message in my log for a while: ActionController::RoutingError (Recognition failed for "/robots.txt"): I had never touched robots.txt. So I decided to make it a proper robots.txtfile I found this great article... http://www.ilovejackdaniels.com/seo/robots-txt-file/ ...where Dave explains the ins and outs of the file. Before I changed mine, I

favicon.ico and robots.txt
Hello, I'm running an apache 2.2 webserver on centos 5.3. I'm seeing frequent requests for robots.txt and favicon.ico from the logs those files should be in the document root area. What are these files, is this something the rpm installs, or do i have to retrieve or generate them? Thanks. Dave.

robots.txt
Hi all, I have again noticed that the wiki does not really show up in search results and wonder if it has any impact that robots.txt on wiki.centos.org is empty. Perhaps it should at least contain User-agent: * ? Best Regards Marcus

Ancient SMB client issues
Actually, I made it work by adding the ?min server protocol = NT1? on the virtual dedicated server. So I guess that this will solve our dilemma (unless I missed something). In any case, one of the robots now have access to the new server. Will try the second one as soon as I get a chance (they are busy bending steel ;:) ) Anders > On 11 Apr 2024, at 14:55, Rowland Penny via samba <samba

Help me with R plotting
Hello everyone. I want some help with plots. I have some robots in an area. Every robot is placed on x,y coordinates and every robot has a power consumption of some watts. I would like to show where are the robots by showing in a map dots (where every dots is the x,y coordinate). Below that dot it would be nice to write the watt consumption but also use some colors to denote different classes of

Ancient SMB client issues
I have a customer with a couple of industrial robots running Linux 2.6.34 and Samba 3.4.7 (smbclient -V). They are able to connect to SMB shares on Windows servers IF I "allow unsafe connections?, ie lower the SMB minimum level. The servers are on Windows 2019, and this setup has worked for a couple of years now. I have created a virtual Debian/Samba 4.19 server with the intention of moving

Probably a newbie problem, but my knowledge in Linux is so limited, so please Help!
Hi I guess I should start by telling the truth, I'm not a Linux user (yet) and I've never tried Linux in my entire life. The reason that I got very interested in WINE is that I've developed a Strategy Game for WIn32. I don't like to discourage Linux people to enjoy my game. Since it's a rewrite of a Mac game, there's a bunch of Linux users who would like to. The game,

Mailing lists and spam
Hello, everyone. I've proven to myself, via throw-away addresses, that individuals and robots sift thru archives and mailing list subscription lists, gathering addresses to sell on CD's to spammers. No list is immune, especially if it or its archives are available over the web. I've been spammed within a very short while of my address appearing on a posted message. If you go to

import file formatted RFC-822
Dear R-list users: I would like to import a database of web robots, http://www.robotstxt.org/db/all.txt, it?s formatted RFC-822, ?how can I do it? The RFC 822 specification defines a standard format for electronic messages, which consists of a set of header fields and an optional body. The headers contain information about the message, such as to whom it is being sent, from whom it is being

OT: Avoiding harddisk failure due to mobility
Hi All, I need some advice on finding a solution to this problem . I have a hard disk mounted on a mobile robot. I am using ext3 fs. The hard disk is subjected to several bumps as the robot travels. I am experiencing frequent hard disk failure ( about once a month). I have thought about 2 different solutions to this problem. I would appreciate any tips on evaluating them 1) Use Compact Flash

[LLVMdev] llvm.org robots.txt prevents crawling by Google code search?
One of the tools I use most frequently when coding is Google codesearch. Unfortunately, llvm.org's robots.txt appears to block all crawlers from indexing the llvm.org svn archive. This means that when you search for an LLVM-related symbol in code search, you get one of the many (possibly out-of-date) mirrors, rather than the up-to-date llvm.org version. This is sad. For more info, see the

rsync is not deleting subdirectories
Hi. I'm having a problem with rsync not deleting subdirectories that exist at the destination but which have been removed/renamed on the source. I'm running 64-bit Arch, rsync 3.0.7, and am trying to back up /home to an external USB drive. Both drives are JFS. Example, where /media/8c4d270d-6139-4fed-8a32-2df8d28acdf3/ is the mount point for the external drive on which a back-up already

return code question
We are trying to automate the running of our rspec tests for our Rails app on a build server using Capistrano. The problem is that Capistrano seems to think that the command called to run the model tests failed when in fact I believe it succeeded. I believe the problem has to do with the return code from the command I am running.. The command I am running is: ruby script/spec spec/models -f

About the google-invisibility of this list
Hi, i wondered why our happy bug hunt about the uninitialized register did not pop up in Google during a search for recent mentionings of xorriso. Wasn't there a thread about google-invisibility a few months ago ? So i began to watch and made an experiment. Can it be that this HTML tag META NAME="robots" CONTENT="noindex,follow" in
