wins.dat contains 127.0.0.1 for local server
I couldn't really find anything about this in the archives, sorry if it's been beat to death. I've got a Debian Linux box running kernel 2.0.33. The machine has two ethernet cards and does NAT between a LAN and a cable modem link. For some reason, it's got 127.0.0.1 listed for its name: root@spruce:/var/samba>cat wins.dat "SPRUCE#20" 914324043 127.0.0.1 46R

Browsing / NetBIOS QQ
Hi all: I'm not sure where to begin. My setup here is Samba Version 2.2.7a-security-rollup-fix acting as wins for a bridged OpenVPN network (if you know what that means). The net consists of 1 subnet (10.0.0.0/24). The OpenVPN Linux box also runs Samba, ip 10.0.0.110. There are 2 other windows/linux boxes "behind" the VPN server. There are "guests" (Road Warriors)

XP Can't Join Domain
I am running Samba 3.0.2 as a PDC on a Fedora Core 1 machine using openldap as the password backend. I think I've got all the openldap stuff working. I can log in, ssh, etc. using ldap accounts. When I try to join an XP machine to the domain, I get an error on the XP machine that reads: The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "TIMBERLINE": The user name could not

WINS.dat question
Hello, These two following lines are from the wins.dat file. I was wondering about the meaning of the last records (44R and c4R). Does anybody know what they mean? "PCLAB#1b" 982581535 10.33.6.140 44R "PCLAB#1c" 982581535 10.33.6.140 c4R Kind regards, Werner Maes LUDIT-KULeuven

SAS to R - if you have SAS 8.2+
Hi there, the attached R function uses the SAS Integrated Object Model (IOM) and it can deal with SAS dates and long variable names. All you need to provide is the folder where the SAS data file is and the data file name without the extension. The function requires the rcom package. This is meant to be first cut...but improvements and suggestions are more than welcome! Gyula import.sas.data

[LLVMdev] RegisterCoalescing Pass seems to ignore part of CFG.
When examining the debug output of regalloc, it seems that joining 32bits reg also joins 128 parent reg. If I look at the : %vreg34<def> = COPY %vreg6:sel_y; R600_Reg32:%vreg34 R600_Reg128:%vreg6 instructions ; it gets joined to : 928B%vreg34<def> = COPY %vreg48:sel_y;  when vreg6 and vreg48 are joined. It's right. But joining the following copy

help with win2k and linux samba browsing
hi all, i've spent an incredible amount of time trying to get samba working between linux (satan, debian testing, samba 3.0.0) and win2k (lucifer) and i'm at wit's end. i'm begging for help. i spent most of the morning reading samba docs, and have gone from knowing zilch about MS networking to, well, a little something about MS networking. my ultimate goal is to be able to

limiting netbios browsing
Given a DC environment where very few (1-3) hosts actually need to be discovered via browsing is there a good way to limit what is browseable? I'm thinking of something like a read-only WINS - where WINS provides only those servers that need be contacted and doesn't allow client registrations. Such as a wins.dat that only contains the following: ========================================

simple cross-network browsing setup is failing
PROBLEM: Cross-subnet browsing is not working. Browse lists on all machines contain only the machines on the local subnet. SUMMARY OF ANALYSIS: The Local Master Browser (LMB) running Windows XP (ZAYIN) never contacts the Domain Master Browser (DMB) running Samba (BETH) to initiate a synchronization of browse lists.

How can I add a NT PDC to WINS tables?
Hi I am trying to use wins-support in samba-2.0.6 as a WINS-server for severel subnets. On one subnet there is an NT-PDC server, serving its own domain. I cannot understand why, but it does not register itself as a PDC (type #1c). The domain is called SI, and the PDC is SI_NTSURF. This is all I get in wins.dat on this server: "IS~SI_NTSURF#00" 943540525 192.38.49.60 64R

pre-RA scheduling/live register analysis optimization (handle move) forcing spill of registers
Hi, I have a question related to pre-RA scheduling and spill of registers. I'm writing a backend for two operands instructions set, so FPU operations result have implicit destination. For example, the result of FMUL_A_oo is implicitly the register FA_ROUTMUL. I have defined FPUaROUTMULRegisterClass containing only FA_ROUTMUL. During the instruction lowering, in order to avoid frequent spill

Suddenly Windows clients can't join Samba+ldap PDC anymore
Hi, i've tried adding server max protocol = NT1 into /etc/samba/smb.conf and restarting smbd and nmbd services but it didn't do the trick. I feel like Windows clients are not able to resolve SRV1 into the PDC and so they can't event try to join the domain.
