samba, wireless, winamp or windows media libraries - slow, hangs
I'm getting really poor performance when using samba with specific
applications - winamp and windows media player, when building the
media library.
I keep my mp3 files on a debian server (2.4.23-1-k7). It is running
samba 3.0.7-Debian.
Most operations seem to work OK. I can copy a 10 MB file to or from
the server in about 30 seconds.
My client is windows XP. It connects to the server via

Supplemental groups in samba
Hi,
We're running samba-1.9.18p8 on a few different platforms (mostly IRIX and
AIX.)
I have noticed that we don't seem to have supplemental group support. We
have a group file shared by NIS, and some directories are controlled by
group.
For example:
We have a share here called cs whose path is /home/cs/common. Under that
directory we have /home/cs/common/ta. The "ta"

string substitution for argument in function
hello,
I want to iterate through a list of names and use each element as an
argument in a function. For instance:
> a = c('one','two','three')
> data= c()
> for(elem in a){data=cbind(elem = 2,data)}
> data
elem elem elem
[1,] 2 2 2
instead I want 'elem' to be substituted by the string in the list. Doing
it by hand would be:

Problems with PXELINUX falling through to localboot on a HP Proliant DL385
I'm having problems with PXELINUX passing through to a "localboot" on a
HP Proliant DL385. I'm working with 3.73.
If I configure PXELINUX to directly "localboot", everything works. If
I configure PXELINUX to use menu.c32 or anything like that, a subsequent
localboot fails. I see the expected "PXE ROM exiting" message but the
next device doesn't

Summary functions to dataframe
I have written a few different summary functions. I want to calculate
the statistics by groups and I am having trouble getting the output as a
dataframe. I have attached one example with a small dataset that
calculates summary stats and percentiles, I have others that calculate
upper confidence limits etc. I would like the output to be converted to
a dataframe with one of the columns as the

Problem Starting RC1
Hello,
I was running a very simple test setup with * HEAD 7/15/2004 on Fedora
Core 2 and things were working fine. Today I upgraded to RC1 and my
asterisk service will no longer start. I downloaded the tarball,
extracted, ran 'make', ran 'service asterisk stop', ran 'make install',
removed all files in /etc/asterisk, ran 'make samples' and then ran

Supplementing Current phone system
Has anyone used * in conjunction with an existing phone system to add
certain features or to expand a department? Currently we have an existing
nortel phone system. We would like to have the * server stand behind it and
just handle VoIP services for our remote sales and technical people. We
would like them to act as normal extensions (being able to dial them by

AW: recycle under samba-3.0.0beta2-1 - supplement
Denis,
I have checked this and verify that this is a bug. You can track the
progress towards fixing this from https://bugzilla.samba.org as bug #210.
Thanks for the feedback.

headers[''Content-Type''] & link_to_remote on Rails Edge
I''m on rails edge and am calling an after filter on my actions. Works
except for my ajax calls via link_to_remote. When I inspect headers,
I see the ''Content-Type'' is key for an object rather than a string.
Shouldn''t it be a string? Anyone know if this is a bug or if I''m
dealing with this incorrectly.
Thanks,
