nouveau on Linux/sparc64 SunBlade 100
Hello everyone, Thank you nouveau developers as it seems you may almost of a solution to my lack of good graphics options for my aging sun system. I saw here before back in early December of 2011 a most of someone saying that it seemed that the nouveau drivers almost worked with him and is Sun Ultra 10. I am someone who is very fond of my Sun systems, I have two "SunBlade 100"s,

Odd behavior of NFS of ZFS versus UFS
I have a test cluster running HA-NFS that shares both ufs and zfs based file systems. However, the behavior that I am seeing is a little perplexing. The Setup: I have Sun Cluster 3.2 on a pair of SunBlade 1000''s connecting to two T3B partner groups through a QLogic switch. All four bricks of the T3B are configured as RAID-5 with a hot spare. One brick from each pair is mirrored with VxVM

Samba 2.2.8 - authentication and nscd
Hi We have installed and configured Samba 2.2.8 on a Solaris (Sparc) 8 server recently. This server is to replace an existing member server in a NT4 domain and will act as a file server. We want to perform as little user maintenance on the Solaris side as possible so that most of the user setup and maintenance for the domain is controlled through a NT4 server using usrmgr and want to use NT

Solaris/NUT 'wall' behaviour
I have compiled and installed NUT-2.2.1 on Solaris 10 on my Sunblade 2000 and it seems to work very well, except that the behaviour of 'wall', which upsmon uses to report significant events, may differ on Solaris from other systems. On Sol10, wall writes the message *only* on the console, unless the "-a" switch is used. On a standard JDS (GNOME) system, there isn't normally a

filesystem remounted as read only
Hi, I'm running kernel 2.6.8-15, lvm2 v2.01.04-5 and acl v2.2.23-1 on a Sunblade 100 (sparc). In a few months we have experienced for several times that an ext3 filesystem is remounted as read-only (this is due to the option "errors=remount-ro" in /etc/fstab). Sometimes there is no error in log files but sometimes we see: kernel: init_special_inode: bogus i_mode (3016) kernel:

Samba 2.2.5 on Solaris 8
Hi all, i compiled Samba 2.2.5 with gcc on a Sunblade with Solaris 2.8. Last month i compiled Samba 2.2.4 on the same machine without problems. The following options i used: ./configure --with-winbind --with-pam --with-quotas I got the following warnings: Linking bin/wbinfo Compiling nsswitch/winbindd.c Compiling nsswitch/winbindd_user.c Compiling nsswitch/winbindd_group.c Compiling

system unresponsive after issuing a zpool attach
Today I attempted to upgrade to S10_U2 and migrate some mirrored UFS SVM partitions to ZFS. I used Live Upgrade to migrate from U1 to U2 and that went without a hitch on my SunBlade 2000. And the initial conversion of one side of the UFS mirrors to a ZFS pool and subsequent data migration went fine. However, when I attempted to attach the second side mirrors as a mirror of the ZFS pool, all

SPARC SATA, please.
Is there a card for OpenSolaris 2009.06 SPARC that will do SATA correctly yet? Need it for a super cheapie, low expectations, SunBlade 100 filer, so I think it has to be notched for 5v PCI slot, iirc. I''m OK with slow -- main goals here are power saving (sleep all 4 disks) and 1TB+ space. Oh, and I hate to be an old head, but I don''t want a peecee. They still scare me :)

e1071, R1.9.0, Solaris 2.9, should I be worried?
In R 1.9.0 running under Solaris 2.9 on a SunBlade 100, with "Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 C++ 5.3 2001/05/15" as the C++ compiler, I just did > install.packages("e1071") The output includes these lines, which I have wrapped to fit nicely in mail: ** libs cc -I/users/local/lib/R/include -I/usr/local/include -KPIC -xlibmil \ -dalign -xO4 -c cmeans.c -o cmeans.o cc

Building NUT 2.2.1 under Solaris 10 (SPARC)
I'm trying to build NUT 2.2.1 on a SunBlade 2000 running Solaris 10 (Solaris 10 11/06 s10s_u3wos_10 SPARC) It won't compile. I'm not a programmer, so I'm afraid I don't know why... Performance problem
We use some Samba servers running SuSE 7.1 and samba 2.2.1a. These servers are sometimes very slow while delivering data over the network. It is like a short sleep-mode followed by a wake up. We use Win 95, 98 and 98SE Clients. Any ideas? Thanks from germany, Andre Klocke -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed

Installing packages from ZIP files
I have R 1.9.0 running under Solaris 2.9 ona SunBlade 100, and am very happy with it. I heard about the stuff at www.rmetrics.org and thought it might be worth looking at. However, what I found there is a bunch of .zip files. The entry page suggests that there is some way to install packages from .zip files in R, but I have searched all the documentation I have and cannot find it. _Is_ there

[GlobalISel][AArch64] Toward flipping the switch for O0: Please give it a try!
Thanks Kristof. Sounds like we'll need to investigate though I'd say it is not blocking the switch. At this point I think everybody is on board to flip the switch. @Eric, how does that sound to you? [GlobalISel][AArch64] Toward flipping the switch for O0: Please give it a try!
Hi all, I added a buildbot [1] running the test-suite with -O0 -global-isel. It runs into the same 2 timeouts that I reported previously on this thread (paq8p and scimark2). It would be nice to make it green before flipping the switch. At the moment, it lives in an internal buildmaster that I've setup for this purpose. If we fix it and it proves to be stable for a week or two, I'll move

Installing rgl in R2.0.1
I'm running R2.0.1 under Solaris 2.9 on a SunBlade 100. When I installed it, I set things up to use the Sun compilers cc, CC, f95 with the options recommended in the installation and administration guide. Until today, no worries. With all this discussion about R GUIs I thought I'd give R Commander a go. The web page said to install a bunch of packages first, so I did >

Log analysis tools
Does anyone have any log analysis tools? I'm currently configured with "log file = /usr/local/samba/var/log.%m", which makes identifying issues with any one client easy, but doesn't provide me with an overall picture of what has been happening. What I'd like to be able to produce is a report showing, for a given unit time, the total number of clients that have connected,
