Hello, I am not able to access SWAT from any other host besides the one running the SWAT daemon. Digital UNIX - root authentication for SWAT
We have installed versions (1.9.18 and 2.0.3) of Samba successfully on AIX based servers without any problems. We are now trying to install Samba v2.0.4b onto a Digital UNIX 4.0d server. Everthing has installed correctly. Shares can be created through editing the smb.conf file and then accessed correctly through our NT network as desired. The problem we have is using the SWAT interface. We can

I've just changed my PC but the new one has exactly the same settings (IP, computername, login, password) as the old one, however I am getting an error when I try to access any of my Samba servers from Firefox (2.0.0.3) :- " 400 Server ErrorSamba is configured to deny access from this client Check

SWAT not logging in with root
Hello, I am trying to set up a samba server for a few shared directories on AIX 5.3. It is running in a Windows 2000 domain. It now seems to share properly, but swat does not accept any login ID. I set up swat with the /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf entries as per the manual. When I use a browser to "http://myserver:901" I get a login box for name and password, but it does not

Swat not authenticating root but other users work (PAM Problem?)
Hello, I've got a little problem with Samba 3.0.0beta2-1 on Debian/unstable. SWAT cannot authenticate the user root. In auth.log I see the following entry: Jul 22 10:09:59 samba samba(pam_unix)[3709]: authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=samba ruser= rhost=0.0.0.0 user=root This only happens to the user root. All other users can use SWAT. Maybe this is a PAM configuration

SWAT: Non privileged user cannot access secrets.tdb
Dear samba-ers, I have installed SWAT so that my samba users can change their passwords easily and remotely as they do not have login access to the samba server. Broadly speaking my problem is that when registered as a user, it seems that swat cannot access the file /var/lib/samba/private/secrets.tdb Version info: Linux platform: CentOS 6.5 Linux Kernel: 2.6.32-431 Samba: 3.6.9-167.el6_5

disabling swat during compile
Howdy folks, I am compiling 2.2.8 from source on a Caldera Openlinux 2.3 box to replace the 2.0.x version that is there. I do NOT want to use swat at all. How do I stop it from being compiled/installed? The only swat related configure switch I could find is where to put the swat stuff, but nothing to disable it period. TIA -- Harondel J. Brand new install and Swat will not accept root passwd????
Hello Fellow Samba users, I have a question. I installed today, FreeBSD 3.1 and put Samba 2.0.3 on. When I compiled Samba, did cat /etc/passwd | mksmbpaswd.sh > /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd and then did smbpasswd -a root and entered passwd ( no different than original passwd). I can start swat but when it asks for username and passwd, it fails to authenticate me. My root passwd is

Administering SWAT using userid's other than root...

I have myself (wkim) in the "domain admin users" and the "admin users". Both the smb.conf file and the swat binarary are owned by root:swat. I'm a part of group "swat". Trouble with root password in SWAT
I have been kind of fortunate in adjusting my SWAT information, and now can reach the SWAT3 interface through port 902 (thanks!), but now I have an even more interesting snag. Konqueror and Mozilla, when going to localhost:902 (what I set SWAT3 to respond to), will prompt a login box. The site is called "SWAT at localhost". I put in the root username, and the root password. It then

Samba-3.0-alpha9 compilation problems
Hello, I'm afraid this message is going to be a little long (188 lines, not counting the headers). It is comprised, in fact, of two posts I sent to the comp.protocols.smb newsgroup, from which I've not received any replies. I'm hoping I can have better luck with the mailing list, (to which I've just subscribed, so it's probably most appropriate to send replies there...)

SWAT features
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, all. I've been working on SWAT in trunk for the last few weeks. My work started as nothing more than a cosmetic redesign, trying to modernize SWAT and offer a clean, sophisticated interface. As I've gotten deeper into this, it seems to me that SWAT could use some improvements to its overall design -- not just aesthetically, but

Cannot access SWAT on Redhat 8.0
Hello, I would like to use Swat to configure Samba. I installed the Redhat Samba package from samba.org and entered swat into my /etc/services file. I am frankly a little confused. I am reading O'Reily's "Red Hat Linux" it says to issue commands "chkconfig xinetd on", "chkconfig swat on", and finally "xinetd reload". On the third command

Swat access question
Hi All, I'm a new user to Samba and I'm just having trouble with one or two things. I've been able to sort most of them out myself but I was wondering how can you get full access to Swat. Obviously the root user gets all the access requiremnts but my own unix user only gets the Samba Documentation screen within Swat. I have tried adding my user id into admin users but this
