How to install TEST_FRAMEWORK(E) ?
Hi,
I've installed a brand new Asterisk 12.0.0 system in which I can see, with
make menuselect, in Test Modules tab, that each test entry such as test_acl
can't be installed due a to missing TEST_FRAMEWORK(E) dependency.
Where this TEST_FRAMEWORK(E) comes from ?
How can it be installed ?

Allow group member to change permissions?
In the process of migrating file storage from NT to Samba servers, I am
running into the following problem. I need a way to allow members of the
group specified by file perms to change permissions on the file or dir. Here
is the scenario:
dir & files are owned by user (id 10634 in this case)
group ownership is the nt group "domain admins" (id 10000)

Changing ACLs
Hello,
I'd like to know if it's _possible_ to change access control lists on a
samba server (samba 2.2.3a, linux 2.4.19-xfs) using the tools MS windows
(NT, w2k) provides. I already can change them using chacl, setfacl on
the command line - this works without a problem. But the administrators
I have to work with have absolutely no experience in *ix, they'd like to
use their windows

Help! winbind idmap corrupt!
Our problems with the attempted upgrade to 2.2.8 continue.
On a production machine running 2.2.3, I backed out of the
2.2.8 upgrade due to winbind strangeness reported in earlier
post. Things *appeared* normal, until this morning, when I
noticed that an 'ls -l' no longer shows domain usernames, and
a 'chacl -l' also no longer shows names, only winbind ids.
Furthermore,

File permissions confusion w/ACLs
Hi there,
I'm having a problem changing permissions on a file on an Active
Directory connected Samba server (using Samba 3.0 alpha 23 with ACL
support enabled) as the Administrator of the domain.
Here is the output of chacl for the file:
brndlog.txt
[u::rwx,u:Administrator:rwx,u:10008:rwx,u:stacey:rwx,g::r--,m::rwx,o::r-
-]
And ls -l:

cannot add domain user to directory security on 3.0.6 from Windows Explorer
Hi,
I'm trying to run samba 3.0.6 with --with-acl-support
on redhat 9.0 with kernel 2.4.25 patched with acl,
joined to a ADS w2k environment. Everything is OK,
except that I can't add any user to a directory
security on a share, with error "unable to save
permission changes on folder EmirF_create_tis_fldr.
Access is denied".
Even as user "EmirF" from windows explorer,

ACL on 3.0.6 ADS
hi,
I am trying to run a 3.0.6 on ADS network with
"--with-acl-support" enabled on configure time. I also
compiled the linux kernel 2.4.25 witch acl patch from
http://acl.bestbits.at/.
Samba shares is visible from the network and
vice-versa.
BUT, I can't change the ACL on samba shared files.
I've read the HOWTO to change file permission from:

Profiles permissions
Hi list,
Maybe this is a simple filesystem question.. but here it goes.
We have a samba-3.0.12 + LDAP domain, today a profile of mine got borked
it just stands there like it was loading but it freezes, I went to the
server and deleted the profile dir and on the workstation to start a new
one.
It worked as expected but now I see it was created with diferent perms
on 3.0.12
that with 3.0.10 ?

guestmount fails after linux kernel update 01/10/2018
Hello,
I had been using guestmount to mount a raw image and it has been working
great until I updated the kernel on 01/10/2018. I am running ubuntu 16.04
LTS, and have changed the read permissions to the vmlinuz as I have done
with previous kernels. The only change to my system between working and not
working is the kernel update from this morning. I am concerned this might
be related to the

Kernel panic with virt-builder etc.
Hi there,
I am trying to write an article on virt-builder and managed to compile
version 1.24.1 of libguestfs on Ubuntu 13.10 (I had mixed success with
the git version and 1.25.x). When I am running virt-builder I am getting
an error message:
virt-builder: error: virt-resize failed
Upon further investigation it turns out that there's a kernel panic when
booting the freshly created image.

Re: smb_panic() in name_len()
Hi Andrew,
Also the problem only exists when the share is accessed by hostname (not IP
address), the hostname is something like 'smb-share'.
Thanks in advance,
Juer

ACLs fail in 3.0.23d
Whenever I try to read or modify ACLs from my Windows 2000 PDC, my Samba
Domain Member Server (Security = ADS) does not allow setting ACLs, nor
does it display the existing ACLs.
- I have setup ACLs in my Kernel
- I have translated and installed libacl and libattr
- I can see and modify ACLs with getfacl and setfacl.
- I have translated Samba 3.0.23d with --with-acl-support=yes
- I have enabled

Samba panic in encoding
Hi,
Urgent help is needed ..
I just upgraded Samba2.2.8a to Samba3.0.1rc1, but the fold I created before
on a share can not be accessed anymore. Say, there is a folder "??folder"
with some German characters ), it can be accessed in Samba2.2.8a; but it
can NOT be accessed in Samba3.0.1rc1, it says 'The folder was moved or
removed" on a Win2k client. I understand the reason

Creating computer account
Hi,
Can anybody confirm that I must have a user account of the AD who has rights to add a machine to the domain when joining Samba as a domain member in AD mode?
Say, when I run command kinit USERNAME@REALM, USERNAME must be a user who has rights to do that.
I got the information above from the HOWTO of Samba-3.
While I found when I join a Win2000 workstation to a AD, I only need a common user

AW: Samba - NT ACL implemented by Unix Posix ACL via Samb a
I'm not an expert on that, but did you tried the following settings on
smb.conf for your share :
admin users = NTDOMAIN+Administrator
valid users = .....
I think this is necessary to use ACL with samba and ntdomain...
