No print to Samba (Linux) printer from Win98
I'm stuck. I have Samba running on my Red Hat 7.2 Linux box. I can mount by remote dirctory on the Linux box via Samba. But I can't print to the Linux printer. I have a Linux printer installed and I can print to it using lpr. I have a printer configured in Samba and can see that from the Win98SE box. I've clicked on the Samba printer name and configured a Win98 printer.

windows client use Linux printer
Hi, Well, my previous attempt to get info on that matter was lame and therefore no one replied. Here is a second attempt. I need info about how to configure samba server and the windows (2000) client to use a printer on the samba server machine. I read the article: http://de.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/htmldocs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#AEN833 but all I got from it was confusion. I need a

Win2K Printer "Access Denied" Error
Hello, I have a new RH 7.2 installation (kernel 2.4.7-10) with Samba 2.2.1a and I can't print from my Win2K box. I get an "Access denied: unable to connect" error from the printer entry in Windows. The logs don't seem to be helping me. Here's my smb.conf file: [global] workgroup = MYGROUP server string = Samba SMB Server interfaces = 192.168.1.1/24 127.0.0.1/24 hosts

Printing to FreeBSD server from XP using samba
A couple of days ago I set up my printer on my FreeBSD server and set it up so I could print from my FreeBSD client. This all works very well, printing from botht the server and the FBSD client. However, I also have samba set up for file serving with an XP box. I have been trying for quite some time now to set samba up to enable me to print from the XP client. My situation at the moment is that

How do I get the @#$$% job name to show instead of smbprn.yada.ya da?
I'm tinkering with this mod to my smb.conf, and can't get the actual filename to be displayed in the printed job history. It's adapted from one Joel put out on the list last year. My impression is that it works for everyone in the world but me.... All that ever shows up is smbprn.yada.yada... in the printer's history of printed jobs. print command = echo %J %p %s >>

It sends the document then that is it. It is like the document gets lost. I am able to print through Linux and WebMin. What should I look at next? I am using the latest version of Caldera OpenServer. Printing - "lprm command" not getting executed
I am attempting to get printing services for Windows 2000 clients working with Samba on a Red Hat 7.2 box. The problem is I can not cancel print jobs (either from a PC or the local smb client). File sharing, and printing other than this problem, work fine. Here is a listing of configuration and system info: 1) the samba packages installed, 2) output of "uname -a", 3) the

Printer question: Generic postscript from windows
I have a lexmark Z53 attached to a linux samba server. My native windows clients and my linux clients (thanks to linux support from lexmark) can print to it with no problem. However, when I use windows over win4lin, the drivers don't install. They always fail with a spool32 error. This happens with the lexmark z32 also. I have no trouble installing other printers from the large list that comes

lpr printing using samba
Hello, I have samba set up on a solaris 8 box. I set up a printer using an lpr port. When I send a job from a client through the queue on the samba box to the printer, the job shows up on the printer queue with the job name changed to a generic name such as smb20***. Does any one know why this is happening. Is there a configuration file that needs to be edited to allow the job name to pass through

I've always HATED printing with Samba
Primarily because I've never gotten it to work despite frequent efforts. Offeding printer is a Lexmark Z53 (supposedly fully supported) and when ever I try to add it to an XP box I get "Server doesn't have the right driver, do you wish to upload the driver?" then when I do it says "Cannot connect to the printer. Can't print to NT printer
I need some help with getting this NT printer setup with Samba server. I think I have modified all the required files and don't know what else is missing. An outside observation should find the missing link. Here is my /etc/printcap: lp:\ :cm=NT printer :\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/acct:\ :mx#0:\ :if=/usr/local/samba/bin/smbprint:\

Jobnames displayed by lpq: Fixed a bit
There has been some correspondence about getting the file names displayed with lpq instead of the smbXXXXX name. The -J option works, but, with some documents, notably Microsoft Word and Corel WP9, the application sends a long preamble, such that the file name is never seen in the queue when listed with lpq. eg: Microsoft Word - PRINT FILE NAME.doc So, to fix this up, at least for word documents,
