I wanted to get a little feedback on a product for Administrating a Linux Server that I am running Samba, Apache, and NCFTP. The Product is Webadmin. I have it installed currently and was wondering if anyone else was using this. If so, what kind of problems have you had with it or are you pleased with it. My biggest concern is Samba. There is a feature on Webmin that as long as you use the

WEB Front End for Clients???
I was wondering if there is a web front end for clients. By this I mean, is there something I can install on my apache server( wich is running on the same server ) that will alow my users to go to a page, login, and it drop them into there home directory. I have researched WEBDAV but I don't think it has the functionality that I need. Any help is greatly appreciated Wayne Dozier Network

samba-4.1.19: resolving local unix group failes when there exists a local unix user with same name
Hi, after upgrading samba from 4.1.17 to 4.1.19 on OpenSuSE 13.2, any shares offered by this machine can nolonger be accessed, when these shares contain an entry "force group" which specifies a local unix group and when there exists a unix user with the same name. Here's an excerpt from smb.conf: [FactWork] comment = FactWork-Downloadportal path =

ProFTP -> vsFTP Configuration Options
I am moving from a server from running Red Hat 7.2 (with ProFTP) to Centos 3 (with vsFTP). There is a setting in ProFTP that lets me set the default ftp login directory for a specific user and I would like to do the same with vsFTP. The reason being is I have a 'webadmin' user that I use for uploading web content. I am thinking I could make the home directory of the webadmin /var/www in

Connecting to multiple databases with multiple database users
Hi everyone, I was wondering what the common practice for handling multiple db users with fine grained privileges on multiple databases is. Against the often read guideline for rails users to keep with a single db as "more dbs don''t really make sense anyway", my opinion is that it DOES make sense to use more than one db schema for a number of reasons that I won''t

samba v2 works, v3 does not - Unix groups
Shifting from a v2 samba server to v3 - Read documentation and googled LOTS but can't seem to find the bits that apply to my simple(?) server with regards to groups. # rpm -qi samba Version : 3.0.28 Vendor: Red Hat, Inc. Release : 1.el5_2.1 Source RPM: samba-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1.src.rpm Samba on server (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2) IS MOSTLY WORKING... home directories

Terminal settings
So this has been bugging me for a few years now and I can always "fix" the problem, but I don't know if that's actually the correct way. So the issue is terminal emulation. I use Secure CRT (vandyke.com) to connect to any and all of my servers through SSH. Whether the terminal is set to 'linux' or 'xterm' makes no difference, I always get this output when I run a

CentOS 4.4 and other software?
I just installed CentOS 4.4 on my laptop, having good experience with Debian, Fedora Core 5, and RHEL4. I really like 4.4's overall appearance (meshing of RHEL4 and FC5), but what I have yet to figure out is how to access repositories for applications that are not part of the default install, such as ncftp. I invoked and updated yum, but it had no idea. I would also like to see what

Folder Permissions
Hi All, Can somebody help me set this up. I'm trying to set up a public folder on my SAMBA server which will let my users create their own folders to store their files. And not let everyone delete them. Following are the problems I'm having: 1) If I set the directory rights to 755 on /exports and share the /exports/public directory with ~/public set to 755 Users can't create

Budgetone 102 and voicemail problem
Hi, Just playing with a couple of Budgetone 102 phones and they are pretty good for the price. The only problem i'm having at the moment is when I get a voicemail on the Asterisk box the LCD flashes. Dialing *98 goes to the VoiceMail Manager, and asks for mailbox, I enter 201, then asks for password, enter my voicemail password set in the Extensions -> webadmin, then hit the

Download to ext3 partition stalls
Hi ext3-gurus, I was doing some testing of our 100 Mbit ethernet at work, and found a weird problem which appears to be ext3 releated as far as I can tell. The test is very simple. I use ncftp to connect to another machine running vsftpd and download a very large file over the network. The network is switched, and I get 8-10 MB/s transfers usually. Now, if I download to /dev/null ("get

Oops kernel (2.4.18) on Sparc32
Hello, I have recompiled a Linux 2.4.18 kernel on my Sparc and I receive some oops when quick disk access are performed. For example : I download some files on a local server with ncftp (-TR directory), and ncftp hangs up (with kernel oops !). I cannot umount the device and I must reboot the station. For information, my sparc is a SparcStation 5 (85 MHz) with 160 Mbytes and 3 SCSI

perl module to parse httpd log on C5
hello, Looking for alternative ideas to parse the combined Apache log: /var/log/httpd/access_log (is how I named it) What I've tried so far is a CPAN search, which pointed me to a recently created module called ApacheLog::Parser >From the C5 shell, I used something like this (heavily refined from how I started) ---------- sh script --------- #rpm --import
