Hi everybody, I need your help, I installed samba on a small network in
Mexico, there are many many file names in spanish so I put these lines
to my smb.conf
client code page = 437
valid chars = E1 E9 ED F3 FA
I looked for the hex values of the accented lower case vocals, thats
where E1, E9, etc came from
Something weird happens, even when the Folder/file names are listed

Sweave and accents
Hello.
I want to write my notes in Sweave in my own language (spanish). But
my language has accents and when I run Sweave in R to translate my Snw
file into the tex file the accents are translated into unrecognizable
characters.
For example, the word "cami?n" (truck) is translated into "cami??n"
Somebody knows how can I do it?
One solution I don't like is using a

First, here is my setup:

Cygwin: 2.510.2.2
Whenever I transfer any file that has Japanese characters in it, the
following message appears in the screen output:

client/server signing disabled or not - domain Controller is down or unavailable
Hi Folks,
hoping someone can help me out please.
Using Samba 3.0.28-1.el5_2.1 on CentOS 5.2
I've read the samba docs wrt "incompatible settings between the Windows
client and the Samba-3 server for schannel (secure channel) settings or
smb signing". So, I've tried smb.conf with client/server
signing/schannel at settings of 'yes', 'no' and 'auto' and

OT: "No authority found" connecting to Freshtel
Hi,
Has anyone else experienced problems as of the last couple of months
when outbound calling through Freshtel?
I've started getting a "No authority found" error. I've tried
contacting them, and they seem to have some serious communication
issues with their IT team, infact I think they have serious issues in
their IT team full stop. First they can't find my account in

Spanish, Portuguese, other recordings for Allison
Hello -
I am going to have Allison record some "intro"
messages in my next round of text to her. I'd
like to have a consistent voice during the first
messages at a company, even if the user presses
buttons that take them to a different voice for
the alternate language.
In other words, I'd like to have Allison say:
Thank you for calling Foo, Incorporated. Para

some samba security questions
Hello, I'm running samba on a redhat linux 7.3 server in order to share
files to a mixed linux/windows local network without a domain controler,
all clients are configured to do local authentication and this
usernames/passwords are the same as on the linux server.
I'd like to restrict access to some directories inside samba shares for
specific users, but changing unix file permissions

Accents in R
Hi,
How can I include accents and signs like '?' '?' in the plots generated by R?
I try, but R automatically transforms the name
ex:

[1] "M\216?xico" "Espa\216?a"

I've seen in some Spanish texts about R how is it normal to include labels of

Samba 2.2.3a + LDAP Domain Logons
Hi all
After 6 odd hours of trying to get this to work I thought I'd email the
list incase someone can point out my mistake.
I have a setup at home with samba (2.2.3a), LDAP, nss-ldap and domain
logons work fine from 95/98/W2K/XP
I then go to a brand new server in another location. Do the exact same
setup (i even copied smb.conf and changed the netbios name, etc)
I can do domain logons

Friendly Reminder: Would you please comment on my findings?
Hi again, Alain,
as Jeremy and Rowland advised to strip down my smb.conf as much as
possible, I haven't yet tried with "hide unreadable = no".
Do you indeed mean to say that setting "hide unreadable = no" on the
Samba *server* might indeed cause a difference in the way the Windows
*client* sends its SMB2_FIND_ID_BOTH_DIRECTORY_INFO commands? This would
mean that

winhelp.exe - tiny, unreadable fonts (SOLVED)
The default wine help reader, winhelp.exe, seems to have only a single
font that it will display help files with. Unfortunately, this font
appears really tiny and unreadable on my 1600x1200 screen. And there
seems to be no easy way to change this font without diving in to the
source (which is what I ultimately did).
In what follows I will first describe my unsuccessful attempts to
