Sounds simple enough, and would provide clear and explicit descriptions that can be used in place of the numeric options. ----- Forwarded message from Jonathan Picht <jonathan.picht@web.de> ----- Date: Tue, 12 Feb 2002 14:08:54 +0100 From: Jonathan Picht <jonathan.picht@web.de> Resent-From: Jonathan Picht <jonathan.picht@web.de> To: Debian Bug Tracking System

recovery system
First: My English is not that good, I hope you can understand what I mean. We plan to build a recovery system for the computer in our school. We want to put an [computername].tar.bz2 for every computer onto our server. When the computer does not work we want to use a Linux bootdisk to boot the computer, mount the drive, erase what is there and extract the .tar.bz2 onto the disk. This is where we

Seriously corrupt ext3 root filesystem - help?
I just came back after being out for the evening. Apparently there was a power failure long enough to discharge the UPS completely on my Linux box. After powering back up, I received notice that the / filesystem needed "manual fsck"ing. I booted off CD and attempted to fsck. Unfortunately, everything I've tried has proved futile and I'm _desperate_ for some help. I've

syslinux boot fails with 2.4.18 but works with 2.2.22
I try to make a floppy disk for replaying a disk image to a harddrive. The image is on our server and is only accessable by nfs because its bigger than 2 gig so it is not possible to store it temporarily on the computer. So I created a floppy disk with syslinux 2.00, busybox 0.60.5 and uClibc 0.9.16. Using a 2.2.22 kernel (with nfs and all build in) all worked but busybox, cause uClibc won't

pxelinux, dhcp and multiple interfaces on the device
Short version: Is there a way to find out which interface PXE booted from? Long version: I'm working on a cluster of machines, each using a networked root filesystem, booting via PXE. Some of these machines have multiple interfaces, some of which are going to be on networks that have functioning DHCP servers that will offer addresses. I'd like to have modular network drivers.

The computer hangs while booting the kernel
I've been working on getting syslinux running for a project I'm working on, and am running into the same problem (roughly) that Julian Picht was having back in March 2003 that he described on this list. To quote his problem... > I have got the Problem that syslinux does not boot my kernel it loads it: > > SYSLINUX 2.02 2003-02-13 Copyright (C) 1994-2003 H. Peter Anvin >

I already tried to load one of the Examples and saving the modified Pic back but it didn't work. I would love to have a blue background with white letters and red

same extension on multiple sip phones?
I have a need to have the two sip phones register with the same extension (at least I think I have the need :) A client wants an incoming call to ring at the receptionists desk and also at their desk. If the receptionist is in it will be answered there and put on hold followed by a "Joe, you have a call on line 1". Is there a way to do this w/ asterisk? I've played with two

hangup detection
So I made the mistake of buying a Carrier Access channel bank without noticing the page on the wiki about the fact that they don't support disconnect supervision (bastards!). However, apart from that, I do have it working fine for incoming calls. Is there some trick to get asterisk to detect the hangup tones from SBC? I've tried busydetect and callprogress as suggested, but neither

Just to confirm, --best will give the currenty -9 behaviour, not the maybe-best-compression-but-really-really-not-what-you-want that used to be -9, right?
