call_nt_transact_ioctl: Currently not implemented.
Hello, we run samba 2.0.6 on Solaris2.6 and use it together with clearcase (version 3.2.1). Sometimes the checkout of files from a clearcase NT-client hangs and probably causes clearcase to destroy the viewstore. In the samba logfile of that client I found the following message: [2000/02/17 09:29:49, 0] smbd/nttrans.c:call_nt_transact_ioctl(2401) call_nt_transact_ioctl: Currently not

Build problem - 2.2.7 (latest)
I'm trying to build samba 2.2.7 (latest tarball) downloaded about 2 hours ago. System is SunFire 3800, Solaris 8 (Generic_108528-16) and gcc 3.2 (downloaded from Sunfreeware). Gcc -v output is: Reading specs from /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/sparc-sun-solaris2.8/3.2/specs Configured with: ../configure --with-as=/usr/ccs/bin/as --with-ld=/usr/ccs/bin/ld --disable-nls Thread model: posix gcc version

"@" doesn't work in the NT domain name
I am part of a large worldwide Active Directory and all of our individual site NT domain names have an ampersand symbol in them (for example: VWS@ROCHESTER) Samba 2.2.6pre2 and older won't join this domain name, or allow connections to it from users in this domain. The logs state that the domain name is "VWS_ROCHESTER", the code is squashing the @ to an _ causing all

NT User ID with apostrophe
I have a few users who have ID's in NT domain and AD that contain apostrophes, such as O'Neill (fo'neill) , and O'Toole (go'toole). I've been trying to give them access to shares, but Samba doesn't seem to like this very much. I've been able to set up the ID's in our LDAP server so file ownership works, but according to the log messages, Samba DOMAIN

binding to privileged ports
Apologies if this is a FAQ; I couldn't find an answer on openssh.com or the mailing list archive.... Commercial SSH (I looked at 1.2.30) allocates privileged ports by counting /downwards/ from 1023, so that it will obtain a socket with (roughly speaking) the highest available privileged port number. This also appears to be the behaviour of rsh et al: (from sshconnect.c; whitespace elided)

File browser doesn't remember last directory over Dfs
Hi, I have encountered some strange behaviour after upgrading to 3.0.12 on FreeBSD 4.10 file servers. Normally when users on windows apps use the file browser to select a file it remembers the selected directory between invocations, so that, for example, they can easily read in multiple files from the same directory, or if they click on Save As... it takes them to the directory where they

user names containing @
Hi, we are running Samba 2.2.2 on Solaris8; one client (MS 2000) is not able to map a drive: The tcpdump shows the correct user name <user>@<dom>. smbd -d 3 shows <user>_<dom> and thus the authentication on the PDC fails. Does anybody know why Samba translates the @ into an _? Thanks a lot, Roman __________________________________________________________________ The NEW

Can't add Machine account ( LDAP ) ...
Greetings ... Just got bitten in the ass by not been able to join the domain with 2.2.7a Correct me if I am wrong, Jerry did give me a quick explaination. It has to do with usernames and what allowable characters in it for security. Now, I need to fix this, does anybody have a patch/fix or tell me where to look in the source to try and fix this. Thanks. Mailed Lee

sshd -p option vs ListenAddress
If all ListenAddress lines in the sshd_config file specify a port, then the -p option to sshd is silently ignored: # cat test_sshd_config2 ListenAddress 0.0.0.0:22 ListenAddress 0.0.0.0:2222 # `pwd`/sshd -D -d -p 4411 -f test_sshd_config2 debug1: sshd version OpenSSH_4.2p1 debug1: private host key: #0 type 0 RSA1 debug1: read PEM private key done: type RSA debug1: private host key: #1 type 1

A couple of patches....
I have made available three patches for OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 (and 2.3.0p1), two of which may be of general interest. They are described in detail at http://www.ex-parrot.com/~chris/openssh-patches/ but a brief description-- http://www.ex-parrot.com/~chris/openssh-patches/openssh-2.5.1p1-keepalives.patch modifies the code in clientloop.c to periodically send a null packet as a keepalive; this is

[PATCH] Added Null packet keepalive option
I have attached a patch which adds null packet keepalive functionality to the client. This patch is made against the current CVS tree as of 3/14/01. Please consider this patch for inclusion in the OpenSSH main tree. This patch is based upon and includes code from the Chris Lightfoot (chris at ex-parrot.com) patch posted 2/23. The original patch from Chris is at:

Add Columns and Order for Rbind?
I am using rbind to add one list with one row to another master list. The problem is that not all columns exist in both lists. What methods would you recommend to reorder one list based on the column names of another? If both sets have the same order and columns, I can then use rbind. I can live with columns being added to the master list set it makes the task easier using something like
