Samba 2.0.6 with automount on Solaris
Hi, all Until recently, we were running Samba 1.9.18p7 in a Solaris 2.6 environment. We configured our environment with configure --with-nisplus --with-automount. With that configuration, we were able to allow multiple machines within our workgroup to act as windows 95 logon servers. Because everthing was automounted. No matter which machine a person gained access to, it provided them with the

multiple domains?
Hi! Just another question... I've an Samba-PDC (2.2.5 --with-ldapsam) - and of course a BDC (at least I hope that I get this running soon) with an LDAP-backend (users/machins/groups). If I want to create something like a "Subdomain" with some - but not all - of the LDAP-users, can this be done, and if how? for example if we have a domain EDU (for educational users - students

Runaway nmbd Process - Help!
I am running SuSE V 8 with KDE 3 and had a memory problem when the screen would lose icons, taskbars etc. I am very much a newbie and everything was going along smoothly, even managed to get Cups up and running and printing across the small Lan to a windows printer. The problem is being caused by nmbd starting up in a loop causing dozens of instances to run each with their own PID until such

Getting Samba 3 to communicate with Win2k3 ADS
I'm having a *terrible* time trying to get Samba 3 to communicate with my Windows 2003 Active Directory Server (the primary and only domain on my network). Basically this is what I'm trying to do: create a Linux File Server to replace my old WinNT 4 File Server. I would like it to show up under all my XP clients on network neighborhood just like the old server, with each account on my

[tftpd PATCH 0/5] pidfile option and syslog fix
Hi, This is my current patch queue. The patches are independent, AFAIK, so feel free to cherry-pick or reject them independently. The bottom one was needed for a successful build here; the top one contains all the modifications you requested on IRC, and more. Meanwhile I hit one of the four stray TABs in tftpd.c, and decided to get rid of them. Comments welcome. --- Ferenc Wagner (5):

daemon in /etc/init.d/functions creates no pifile?
Hi, we started using centos7 to run kvm+libvirt. For novnc to virtual machines I like to start websockify as a daemon by libvirt (as a hook) Under Debian I used the line: # start-stop-daemon --start --chuid $RUNUSER --make-pidfile --pidfile $PIDFILE --startas $PROGRAM -- $OPTIONS which creates a nice pidfile. In Centos I figured out, to include /etc/init.d/functions and I tried: # daemon

[Q] Running 2 smbds bound to different interfaces on one machine?
Hi, I am trying to setup two Samba daemons (smbd) on one machine. I would like to have one smbd use configuration file A and the second smbd use configuration file B. Configuration file A will be setup for users home directories and would use security = USER. Configuration file B is for a shared printer and would use security = SHARE. The machine running Samba has aliasing, so I thought I
