Possibly problem with case of filenames ?
Hi, i'm having a little problem with samba (or Windows98 ?). The story : I'm using the program WHFC (Windows Hylafax Client) on a W2k and Win98-client. Samba 2.2.5 is running on Suse LINUX 7.1 Kernel 2.4.18. The WHFC-program uses a share on the LINUX-server (actually the share contains tif-images of received faxes). No problems with W2k, but with Win98. The WHFC-client shows the

Making a markov transition matrix
Folks, I am holding a dataset where firms are observed for a fixed (and small) set of years. The data is in "long" format - one record for one firm for one point in time. A state variable is observed (a factor). I wish to make a markov transition matrix about the time-series evolution of that state variable. The code below does this. But it's hardcoded to the specific years that I

one more thing i forgot...
there is one more thing that you should probably see: this is the error message that cygrunsrv.exe gave me: Eric at ballistic ~ $ cygrunsrv --start sshd cygrunsrv: Error starting a service: QueryServiceStatus: Win32 error 1062: The service has not been started. this is the error message that "net" gave to me: Eric at ballistic ~ $ net start sshd The CYGWIN sshd service is starting.

Enhanced MDISKCHK.COM and MEMDISK patches
Good day to all, Gert Hulselmans requested a feature for MDISKCHK.COM that would function roughly like GETARGS.COM[1] by Murali Krishnan Ganapathy: DOS SET command output for MEMDISK kernel arguments passed by previous boot-loaders. He also needed to support the case for MEMDISK-in-a-MEMDISK type situations, where all MEMDISK kernel arguments could be gathered together and output as a list

Error: STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND
[I didn't see any replies to my 12/27 post... so reposting it] One day samba was working fine, the next it wasn't. I didn't change anything on either the Fedora Core 6 machine (relay) nor the XP Pro machine (oob2). I'm running Samba 3.0.23c on a fully patched FC6 x86 box. I followed all the steps in "Procedure 38.1. Diagnosing Your Samba Server", and until I got to

Password complexity checks and local users...
AFAI've understood 'samba-tool domain passwordsettings' set domain password settings, while the GPO equivalent settings is for the client (windows client and server os). Currently i've enabled password complexity checks server side: root at vdcsv1:~# samba-tool domain passwordsettings show Password informations for domain 'DC=ad,DC=fvg,DC=lnf,DC=it' Password

Problems after changing operating system and versions
Dear all, we have been using samba as PDC with ldap for over a year without any problems. Now we are trying to switch to a another operating system version and another samba version and have big problems with our windows clients (NT, 2000 and XP). Some have problems logging on to the domain (error C000019B), others give the net helpmsg 3678 (problems saving profile) and/or the netlogon script

Making a markov transition matrix - more progress
I solved the problem in one more (and more elegant) way. So here's the program again. Where does R stand on the Anderson-Goodman test of 1957? I hunted around and nobody seems to be doing this in R. Is it that there has been much progress after 1957 and nobody uses it anymore? # Problem statement: # # You are holding a dataset where firms are observed for a fixed # (and small) set of years.

Unexpected parameter problem using rsaga.geoprocessor() {RSAGA}
Hello, I discovered SAGA, an interesting free GIS, a few days ago and now, I would like to use it from within R 2.6.2 using the RSAGA package. I read the documentation for this package and thought that I understood it correctly for trying to call some of the SAGA modules. For getting the information on the usage of and arguments required by the SAGA command line "Import Binary Raw

Re: Windows XP machine not connecting to Samba 3.04 after upgrade
Hi, as I wrote before: I'm not able to connect a Windows XP Pro notebook to a Samba 3.0.4 server. All the other machines (most Windows XP Pro, but also a few Windows 2000 and Windows 98) can connect without any problem. This one machine is not part of the NT domain because it needs to connect 1 or 2 times a week only, and is on the road most of the time. The machine could connect

Any progress on write.csv fileEncoding for UTF-16 and UTF-32 ?
"R version 3.4.0 (2017-04-21)" on "x86_64-w64-mingw32" platform I am using CSVs and other text tables, and text in general (including regular expressions), on Windows 10. For me, that means dealing with Windows-1252 and UTF-8 encoding, with UTF-16 and UTF-32 as helpful curiosities. Something as simple as iconv ("\n", to = "UTF-16") causes an error, due to

R 2.7.0, match() and strings containing \0 - bug?
Hi, A piece of my code that uses readBin() to read a certain file type is behaving strangely with R 2.7.0. This seems to be because of a failure to match() strings after using rawToChar() when the original was terminated with a "\0" character. Direct equality testing with == still works as expected. I can reproduce this as follows: > x <- "foo" > y <-

Problems getting mongrel service working
Hello list! I have mongrel service 0.1.0 working on my current production machine. Upgrading to a new server and also moving to mongrel service 0.3.1 has not worked yet. I am hoping someone will have an idea as to why. I have mongrel installed properly (I think): C:\rails\igacc>gem list --local *** LOCAL GEMS *** ... mongrel (1.0.1) A small fast HTTP library and server that runs
