HELP!Weird user homes share behavior
Hi folks, I have been using Samba 2.2.2 on Solaris 7 happily for a while now. All of a sudden users can map other users home accounts without having to reauthenticate. The dialogue box to map as user doesn't even appear on Win 98/NT/2000. The facts: I added a pointer to a wins server a few weeks ago, but removing it doesn't seem to effect anything.(not that it should...) all my users

Weird DISKS behaviour on 4.8-STABLE
Hello people, I have been experiencing a weird problem with 4.8-STABLE for a long time. I was ignoring it, thinking that it was a problem with the SCSI disks or perhaps the contoller. I changed the disks from the original Intel box to a Compaq box and I still noticed the problem was there. What happened is that all of a sudden, the disk would 'fill' up with nothing! Yes, that's true.

Weird bandwith behaviour (download throughput) on CentOS based gateway
Hi. I have a company gateway that is connected to a 30/30 Fiber connection, network termination point is a MRV OS-904. It acts as a firewall/router for the DMZ/hosts/lans behind. Software: CentOS 6.9, bare minimum install, all latest patches. Hardware: Xeon CPU, Intel server MB with two Intel PRO 1000 (e1000, e1000e) network cards, adaptec RAID, 8GB RAM On the hosts/lan behind I can happily

Asterisk database weird behaviour
I am using realtime architecture in my Asterisk 11.3.0 system; for cdr, dialplan, sip accounts, voicemail and queues. My database (on separate machine) is postgres 8.4 in drbd cluster with one active and one passive node controlled by corosync and pacemaker. So 99% of my sip accounts is defined in realtime, but I also have some statically in sip.conf I have a following problem: Each time I have

Problem with HTTP stream but not HTTPS.
Strange issue - not sure if something has changed in Icecast2, but suddenly my long-running stream won’t connect to 8000 and says 'File or directory not found’ http://listen.radioclash.com:8000/ <http://listen.radioclash.com:8000/> but will happily connect to the SSL port I’ve set up https://listen.radioclash.com:8443/ <https://listen.radioclash.com:8443/> I am using Liquidsoap

Problem with HTTP stream but not HTTPS.
If you use Chrome, recent updates won't allow connections to an http server if the referring url is on an https server. I wonder how much additional CPU strain this causes when you have a few hundred plus listeners to encrypt everything. Anyway, this is the way it is now, unless you use the likes of .pls/.m3u files with the http server link for an external player. Cheers, Gavin. On

doc bug in ?residuals.gls
Under the description of the 'type' argument, ?residuals.gls says 'Defaults to ?"pearson"?.' But residuals.gls starts residuals.gls <- function(object, type = c("response", "pearson", "normalized"), ...) { type <- match.arg(type) ... which sure looks to me like it defaults to "response", not "pearson" (and it

Problem installing packages and weird R site behaviour
Hi, I tried to install a package using the menu option and was presented a list filled with NA's. I then tried visiting the R site and each option on the side bar (eg. CRAN, Search,FAQ) sends me to the address attached below (NB: I left off the h in http). The first problem seems to be related to the second. Is anyone else experiencing this behaviour and how do I restore normal behaviour?

I've stumbled across weird chain of multiple failures
Hi. I've had a chain of a sudden unexplained problems which crippled my tinc network. It looks as if UDP communication between hosts in different parts of the globe all of a sudden completely broke. While waiting for my list subscription to be accepted, I've managed to solve, (or perhaps mask) the problem by re-enabling PMTUDiscovery for all hosts involved. I still have no

pam_smbpass cannot access samba database
Hi! I installed samba 3.0.4 on solaris9/sparc, with support to pam_smbpass, but when I configure pam.conf, and try alter system password, appears "permission denied" and in /var/adm/messages appears "cannot access samba password database", I tried compile separated the pam_smbpass (downloaded from samba.org), and the error remain. Any ideas??? Thanks

Weird behaviour of one Win7 user
Hello list, I have a samba 3.5.6 running on a Debian squeeze machine. This box is running since more than a year without any problems. Since a couple of days we have the following problem. One Win7 user doesn't get his user profile any more The log file tells: [2013/03/04 07:43:14.641151, 1] auth/auth_util.c:580(make_server_info_sam) User WIN7MACHINE$ in passdb, but getpwnam() fails!

Asterisk stopped Matching Defined Peer
HI All, Something weird has happened to my (*) setup. Setup: I'm using a Realtime-Driven (*) server for voicemail which has the knowledge of all mailbox users on the softswitch which is remote to this (*) box. Since that's all this box is used for, all I have in the sip.conf is the definition of a peer (tried friend as well) which is qualified by its IP address. This is where the calls

Trying to use segmented in a function
Hi folks I wonder if anyone can help me. I want to run some simulations to see how big a sample size might be necessary to distinguish a curved bivariate relationship (e.g. something that might be best described by a quadratic model) from a relationship that is two straight lines with a sudden change in slope (e.g. something best described by a breakpoint regression). I am using

Weird behaviour opening pdf files (and maybe others)
Hi, I had to review a samba setup recently where people experienced strange things. Basically they more from a solaris on phisical machines environment (locally hosted) running an old version of samba (2.x or even 1.x) to a Red Hat virtualized environement runing 3.6 (remotely hosted). The link between clients and server is really good (2x100Mb/s fiber) and browsing shares and opening office

Neverwinter Nights suddenly not working
I've had NWN running on this PC just fine, but all of a sudden, it fails to run, giving me the infamous 'encountered a serious problem' dialog. System is Ubuntu 10.04, wine 1.3.14, nVidia Corporation C67 [GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M] (rev a2). Full terminal output at http://pastebin.com/WmCEteZK Any ideas? Many thanks, David Shaw

1.0rc25: double INBOX folder (weird)
Let me start off by saying the initial cause was *not* a Dovecot bug. :) If you have the default namespace "INBOX." (Courier emulation mode from the Wiki) and an actual folder in your ~/Maildir/ with INBOX in the name (~/Maildir/.INBOX.Miami), then Dovecot presents them both to the client as the real Inbox in Thunderbird: Account Inbox (3) Drafts Sent INBOX (3)

Strange behaviour of as.Date function
Dear All, I'm happily extracting data of temperature from an oracle db under R via RODBC. After manipulating the extracted data I put them into a data.frame 'dati' which is as follows: > dati DATA tm. Two MS Access questions (compact database & Access XP)
We're in the process of replacing an ailing NT box with a Linux one running Samba (Red Hat 7.3 w/ kernel 2.4.18-18.7.xsmp [from Red Hat] and samba version 2.2.7, with a variety of Win2k boxes connecting to it) and I have a couple of quick MS Access questions (in the hopes someone out there has had any experience with these things): 1) We have one rather large (700MB+) Access database on
