winbind problem
Dear all, I'm trying to make winbindd working without much success. I would like to set my linux box as a samba PDC and as winbindd host with some win2k workstations. I'm using mdk 8.1 and have installed the corresponding rpms (samba-2.2.2-6 by cooker). I followed howto and samba doc to set the pdc and it works. Following winbindd doc I have to used "smbpasswd -L -j IUTINFO -U

winbindd problem enumrating users and groups
I have been unable to configure a Samba server I am testing to enumerate the users and groups in our local NT domain, but I have been able to configure it to enumerate the users and groups in our W2K domain. I am hoping someone has some suggestions for what to try next. The Samba server is running Linux installed with the XFS RedHat 7.2 installer CD. I get the same results running Samba 2.2.3a

How to get winbindd to ignore trusted domains?
Hello all, I've successfully added a samba 3.0.20 server to an Active Directory domain. My only problem seems to be a fairly common one: there are 10 trusted domains with close to 20,000 users in our AD "network", and if I do a "wbinfo -u", wbinfo appears to time out before winbind has finished contacting all 10 domains. I've set the "allow trusted domains"

I own both the recent books on Samba 3 and they are very good, but I seem to be missing something. Anyways... Can I use net ads join without DNS
Hi Samba people I'm trying to join a Solari10 server using Samba Version 3.0.33 server to an ADS. But the ADS is not in DNS. I thought I could get round this by putting the ADS IP in the servers local hosts file, and telling the krb5.conf not to use dns but it doesn't seem to work. 1. Can it be done ? 2. If it can how ? Output of my net join ads, still seems to be using DNS [root at

Samba 3.0.0 RC1: Unable to find a suitable server
Hiya, I compiled the RPMs of Samba 3.0.0 RC1 according to "../samba-3.0.0rc1/packaging/RedHat/samba.spec" and installed the binaries from the freshly compiled rpm on my up2date Redhat 9.0 Server. The command "net join -U Administrator%****** -d10" creates following error: ***** SNIP ***** [root@samba30srv RedHat]# net join -U Administrator%******** -d10 [2003/08/19

PAM sending wrong username to Winbind
Hi All, I am unable to authenticate users through pam_winbind. "wbinfo -u", "wbinfo -g", "getent passwd", "getent group", "wbinfo -a DOMAIN\\Administrator%password" all work and suggest that samba and winbind are correctly configured. For some strange reason PAM seems to be sending Winbind "NOUSER" as the username to authenticate

Lost WINS lookup in net command on 3.0beta2
I had compiled and set up one 3.0beta2 server on S390 Linux, and successfully joined our Win2k AD domain. Everything was working well, and I went to rebuild Samba on Intel. When I tried to join the domain using my new build, net join complained about not being able to find the DC. net join -Uxxxxx%pppppp with debug level 5 results in the following: [2003/07/11 13:56:00, 3]
