Debug/error codes
I know in some ways the answer is RTFM, but I'm not even sure which docs to read or where they are. I've posted about my printing problem before (Win2k SP2 won't print to my Linux server printer), and even though I've had some suggestions, nothing has worked (after a solid week of trying combinations in smb.conf, I'm close to having to drop Linux and go to a complete

How to verify availability of the DID connection?
Hi all, Occasionally, DIDs from different providers stop working for some reason. I would like to be able to monitor situations like that and react before any of my clients start going ballistic on me. Any ideas? Scripts you know of or wrote and willing to share? Any info?would be greatly appreciated. ? Robert ? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

PDC & Pringing on Samba 2.2.2 -- Does PDC use effect printing?
I've described printer problems with 2.2.2 & Win2k SP2 in an earlier message. At one point, using an earlier version of Samba, on an earlier install, the printing worked just fine. Does using Samba as a PDC for logons from Win2k boxes do anything to effect the use of printers and print shares? Or are the two completely separate and have no interaction or effect on each other? CVS and SAMBA UPDATE
Hi Can somebody tell me how to use cvs to check for patches. Are the patches packaged as RPM for linux or do I have to figure out how to install them which i don't know how to do. You see my winbindd keeps crashing and i probably need to patch it up. Also when I try to move files from windows to samba, sometimes I receive this errors "file path is too deep". Please somebody

Sharing files/directories with colons in name
Hail SAMBA folks, I'm having a little difficulty trying to share files and directories that contain a colon in the filename. With a fairly simple configuration, everything works as expected sans the colon problem. On the client end (in my case, Windows 2000 SP2) I get somewhat unpredictable behaviour. In every case the file (or directory) name gets mangled in an unfriendly way. For

Printer shows up before it is defined!
This may be a glitch/bug/feature unto itself, or it may relate to the problem I've been having with getting Win2k SP2 to print to a printer on Samba. I have just created a new, clean install of Mandrake 8.1. Then I updated CUPS from 1.1.10 to 1.1.11. I updated Gimp-print from 4.1.99b2 to 4.2.0. I am using Samba 2.2.1a, directly from the Mandrake 8.1 install. The printer is an Epson

Problem with printer driver sharing Win2k klients.
Hi... I got this new server at work that I have to get 100% up and running by tomorrow. It's running Samba 2.2.1a on SuSE 7.3 Pro It's supposed to be VPN - File and Printer Server The printers are: One OCE 700C / CS90 color copier and One OCE 3165 And there is only one problem left. I can install the printer drivers for Win9x & NT on the samba server. But I can't figure out how to

music on hold without mpg123
Hello list, after the last time that mpg123 wen ballistic on our production system, we decided to skip mp3 playback altogether and to go for raw files. After half an hour playing with mpg123 and sox parameters in order to translate a mp3 file to a wav file that can be streamed back through * with no need for an mp3 decoder, I thought I'd post the result to the list to avoid wasting

Error: vector memory exhausted (limit reached?)
Re-looping R-help. My error. Hannah, I can't tell you how much RAM your computer has, certainly not how much is free for R's use. Just that you are probably not going to be able to load a dataset that Large into a 2017 MacBook. win2k joining Samba 2.2.2 PDC problems.
I'm running FreeBSD 4.4, with Samba 2.2.2 freshly installed, with the FreeBSD Ports package to install files in correct places. I've a Win2k system tring to join the domain "FREESIDE" It will authenticate ok from the win2k command line. "net use x: \\crypton\homes /USER:FREESIDE\jerry" It seems to work ok during the first part of joining a domain, i.e. password

Determining if swap memory is turned off
In order to run some performance tests on optimization tools, I want to be able to avoid the use of swap memory. In *nix systems, at least Linux ones, I can issue a 'sudo swapoff -a' command and use just the RAM available. If I don't do this, at some point swap will be used, the disk goes ballistic and the machine is unresponsive because it is thrashing data to the swap. I
