default printer selection based upon computer a user logs into
We are using roaming profiles. I have a user that logs onto two computers that are in different buildings. Computer 1 is collections w/ default printer HP Laserjet 4000DTN (10.8.9.223) and Computer 2 is salesshop w/ default printer HP Laserjet 4100DTN (10.8.3.31). The user complains that when she logs into salesshop, does her work, logs out, and then logs in at the collections computer,

specials issue, a heads up
I recently had a long argument wrt the survival package, namely that the following code didn't do what they expected, and so they reported it as a bug ? survival::coxph( survival::Surv(time, status) ~ age + sex + survival::strata(inst), data=lung) a. The Google R style guide? recommends that one put :: everywhere b. This breaks the recognition of cluster as a "special" in the

reset "replace battery" flag
Hi, We have a HP R/T 3000 G4 UPS; according to the data returned by the usbhid-ups driver, it seems to be a "badge engineered" Eaton 5PX UPS LI R 3000. We have a stubborn "Replace Battery" alarm that stays despite: - physical battery replacement - successful quick battery test, started by upscmd - successful deep battery test, started by upscmd - successful battery test,

Creating pulldowns using loops
Creating looped pulldowns in PHP is simple so I can''t figure out why it seems to elude me in RoR. I want to create a simple pulldown list with the options and values "1" through "14." I have been trying to accomplish this with the .upto method like so: --START RHTML CODE-- <% options_array = [ 1.upto(14) {|i| print "[" i "," i "]"}

gap.plot() and axes=F
Hello! Using the package Plotrix I want to do a plot with a broken axis. So far it's working fine but now I want only the x and y axis plotted (the x-axis with a gap in it), but not the axes that are reffered to as axis 3 and 4, and not the lines that additionally mark the gap in the axis. I thought an 'axes=F' in the gap.plot() command would do (as in the usual plot()), but it does

It seems everything is setup correctly, although I cannot get the rpcclient to 'see' my printer. Please notice these two printers listed below ar the same (lp & HP2300). Best Printer Setup
Hi, I've been toying with the idea of using the Linux machine as a print server. I'm using RedHat 5.2 and Samba 2.0.3. I already have one remote printer share working... but I can't figure out where the PrintTool in RedHat is storing the remote printers IP address. Anyone know where? :) (not important just bugging me - I hate when OS's hide stuff) I have the Samba book

Parallel printer error
Hello folks: The introduction: Great product this Samba! The problem: I am trying to migrate an HP LaserJet 4 printer in our office off a VMS system and hang it directly off the back of a UNIX machine. I have created the new entry in the printcap (see below) file on that machine and can print from UNIX - no problem. I created the share in Samba with what I think works pretty well (see below).

"hosts allow" in smb.conf expects only FQDN, not alias or netbios name!?
There is no way to specify allowed hosts in smb.conf as hostname alias (from /etc/hosts file) or as netbios names (from lmhosts file). Is this normal behavior? If so, what is lmhosts file used for? Using configuration shown below, the only way to specify allowed hosts in smb.conf is with hosts FQDN. Thanks in advance for any help. Example: hosts allow = eclipse.lan # this is OK hosts allow =

netbios alias upper case file name problem
Hi, everybody there. I get problems when using netbios alias with samba 3.04a. Upper case file names for alias will not work for me. I have to change to lower case file name. for example, config file "SMB.CONF.BACKUP_SVR-1" for alias server BACKUP_SVR-1 will not work until I change the file name to "smb.conf.backup_svr-1". How can I fix the problem? I like to use uppercase.

XP + SP2 + DFS + netbios alias = not working
Hi all, I'm using Samba 3.0.6 (on IRIX 6.5). This is just a 'let you know what I've discovered' message really. I've just installed upgrade a laptop here to SP2 of Windows XP. It then started failing to make network connections. After much fiddling about, I tracked it down to DFS shares. This PC can now connect to the DFS root OKay, but doesn't recognise the entries

Access denied based on Netbios Alias
Every week or so, Samba stops answering to a server's FQ host name via Netbios. However, it will continue to answer on an alias declared at "netbios aliases" in smb.conf. "net view \\name01" will result in "Access Denied", and "net view \\name0" is successful. To be clear, both aliases point to the same machine. Restarting the smbd service fixes the

Netbios Alias
I am trying to setup a Netbois alias that uses it's own smb.conf file. I have made the following changes to the original smb.conf file: netbois alias = TPUB02 include = /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf.%L For some reason the smb.conf file in the include statement does not work. In touble shooting this issue I was able to hardcode the smb.conf file name in the include statement and that does

moving netbios alias between machines
I would like to move a netbios alias (e.g. 'testname') from one machine to another. Seems like an easy enough thing to do: remove it from machine 'a', and add it to machine 'b'. I've done this, but all's not well in netbios land. My clients still want to talk to the old machine, and do. Do I simply have to be more patient? How patient? Is there anything that
