Win2k and PDC logon.
Dear Samba Experts.
I an quite new to samba but know the basics of creating chares and
permissions, I think!!! Been digging into HOWTO for pdc logon using
windows boxes.
Having great difficulty in getting win2k to complete and logon to a samba
2.2.5 PDC configuration. Win98 is ok and runs the logon scripts as
required. I have attached the smb.conf used and can confirm the directory

Can't set up a PDC - .mac problem?
Dear all,
I'm trying to set up Samba as a PDC, and try as I might I can't get that
magical "Welcome to the DOMAIN domain" message. V. frustrating! I'm
running 2.0.3. I've run through all the DIAGNOSE.txt messages without
problems and can access all the shares fine. I've set everything up as
in the NT domain FAQ, but still I can't get my box to be part of that

SAMBA 3 not working with W2K/XP in PDC mode.
Hi Everybody,
I tried to use SAMBA 3.0.7 in Mandrake 10.1 / Kernel 2.6 but It? not
working. I did see muchs documents about this, and the first machine
make the registration in domain and make the first logon (runnig scripts
and saves profiles perfect). But when I try to put a second machine,
using the same version of Windows and the same configuration, the
machine make the registration in

SAMBA + LDAP : Unable to Login on a domain
Hi Everybody,
I am writing here this mail because I have a strange problem using SAMBA
with authentication by LDAP. The OS is a Linux Debian Sarge 3.1 with a
SAMBA 3.0.10-Debian. Communication between LDAP and SAMBA works fine. So
I can access to SAMBA shares in workgroup mode using LDAP accounts.
When I try to join a computer to the domain, it works => Join is OK
using administrator

smbpasswd -j joins wrong domain?
I am having a hell of a time getting a group of Samba servers working
together as a domain. My desired setup is to have one Samba PDC (LION)
in control of the ANIMALS domain and then have the other Samba file
server (HYDRA) join ANIMALS.
Simple enough. My smb.conf files are attached. I have added a HYDRA$
machine account to LION per the usual directions. I then follow the
simple directions

Share Problem
I'm trying to setup a share on my samba server that will allow me to
write to the disk on my windows 98 box. It seems quite simple but I get
the access denied error messages whenever I try to create or write to
the file.
I created the disk on my samba server as a DOS 16 bit file system.
Here is my smb.conf file:

spauratic loss of machines.
Hello,
I've got a samba/win98 problem. This occurs with samba 2.05a and
slackware linux 7.0 and freebsd 3.4-release and samba 2.06. I've got two
machines, one a pure 98 machine, the other split 50-50 linux and freebsd.
All is looking well, samba is my local master, will always win elections
etc. Both machines show up and all is good until I restart samba. At that
point no matter which

User profiles are not stored on server
Hello!
I work at a school in Norway, and am experimenting with a Linux box as a server for our Win95 network.
Most things seem to work like they should, except one important thing: The user profiles are _only_ stored on the local machine...
I am running Internet Explorer 4.01 with the Users function enabled. The network setup is as follows: Samba box as WINS server. "Log on to Windows NT

(From the NT domain "vortex") with mapping drives from the PC's (running
Windows NT) with no problems at all. The problem I

No Printing for you
Just setup Fedora 7, Samba is sharing files for Windows XP users, Samba
is sharing printers too - the user's can add new printers to their XP
machines, but when they try to print they get various messages,
(Including no message at all) and no printouts.
Remote printing can be done by a Mac, using lpr printing.
Also local users can print using lpr.
Have included my smb.conf file.

Samba is screwed up
I have set up a Samba server (Version 3.0.10-1.fc2) on a Fedora 2 box,
but it appears to always be allowing anonymous login now and when I
try to log in with a valid user it keeps telling me the login failed.
Can someone tell me why this is
happening and also, why are authorized users not able to log in?
Here's the content of my smbusers file:

Oh, so you are using ldap..., well I'm still working with smbpasswd as
backend :-(
Anyway, I tried 'net getlocalsid' for the domain-sid -> ok
Next 'net usersidlist' which should show me the user-sids -> didn't

Connection from WIN95 succeeds and from NT fails - why ?
Hello !
We have Samba 1.9.18p3 intalled on Digital Unix 4.0, and succeed to
connect from Win95 to some directory on that Digital. However,
when we try the same from NT system installed on the very same PC,
the connection fails, with the following error message:
"System error 1240 has occurred. The account is not authorized to login
from this station"
Username and domain are the same
