Solaris users: any way to join a samba domain?
Hi there.
I installed OpenSolaris 10 on a test machine, and I'm trying to make
it join my samba domain.
Unfortunately, the only references I can find about joining a domain
on Solaris are related to joining an AD domain.
I just want to join a samba domain (Windows NT/2000 style)
smbadm -u name DOMAIN
always fail with:
failed to find any domain controllers for DOMAIN

groupmapping doubts
Hello Samba people !
Thanks to the great docs available, I was able to setup samba as a PDC in
a few hours. Everything works as I wish, except one thing. As security is
not really a matter in my case, I would like every domain user to be able
to install programs on every domain machine. As I understood, this can be
achieved by adding every domain user in the "Domain Admins" group. Am I

Loading Excel file into Limma
Dear mailing group,
This is my first time here. Glad to have this resource!
I am currently trying to load an Excel file into R (limma package loaded)
using the source(*name of directory*) command, but it cannot open the file.
I renamed the file as .R and .RData, to no avail. The Excel data contains
one gene name per row and about 100 data points per gene (columns).
I am only used to

Samba PDC and XP Pro Problem. (Not signorseal - fixed that one some time ago)
Hi,
This is a simple query and may well have been answered in the mailing
list archives but my searching can't find an answer to my specific
problem.
My PDC is Samba 2.2.3 on Redhat 7.3, clients are a mix of Win 2k and XP
Pro laptops.
The Win 2k laptops work fine (all service packs applied) and allow any
domain user to log on to any of the 2k laptops. However the XP laptops

win2k joining Samba 2.2.2 PDC problems.
I'm running FreeBSD 4.4, with Samba 2.2.2 freshly installed, with
the FreeBSD Ports package to install files in correct places.
I've a Win2k system tring to join the domain "FREESIDE"
It will authenticate ok from the win2k command line.
"net use x: \\crypton\homes /USER:FREESIDE\jerry"
It seems to work ok during the first part of joining a domain, i.e.

samba-2.2.2 and Linux 2.2.20 replacing Win2K?
Hi there,
I was wondering if you could give me some pointers as to how to get rid of the
spooge of microsoft from our office, and have samba-2.2.2 assuming file sharing
duties (read this as the Boss isn't happy with all the win2K crashes on the
NIC's)
The machine is a Pent-III 850Mhz w/256MB, dual NIC's, and 2 HD's (IDE) with
/dev/hda1 being where the OS is stored, and /dev/hdb1

Win2K Machine Accounts No Longer Valid after Samba PDC Upgrade (2.2.2 to 2.2.8a)
Symptom: After upgrading our Primary Domain Controller
from Samba 2.2.2 to Samba 2.2.8a, users attempting
to login from Windows 2000 clients are no longer
able to do so.
Details: After some research it was discovered that if a Windows
2000 client re-joins the domain served by the upgraded
version of Samba, users are then able to, once

Long logoff times - Win2k Client, Samba 2.2.2 PDC
Hi Folks:
I am seeing excessively long logoff times on my Win2k clients - I am using Samba
as a PDC.
Excessively long == 6+ minutes. Network is 100BT switched. Total cable feet
between client and server (including switch) - 10 foot. According to the
switch, both machines are running at 100BT speed, full duplex.
There is what appears to be a lot of network traffic between the client and the

Hi all.
I'd like to put together a small repo for Centos packages

other Centos users.
Are there any guidlines for creating an officially endorsed
Centos 3rd party repo please?
Kind Regards,
