can see my workgroup
I just want to set up a folder on my Linux 7.2 running samba 2.2.1a-4. I
have looked at the smb.conf over and over. Cannot find out why my share is
not showing up. I just want users on my domain to browse the network and
read the folder. I am on an NT domain and the furthest i got was seeing
the workgroup testgrp on my network neighborhood. But when i click on the
workgroup i get an access

NFS and Samba
This is a question before i go into production with my setup. Thanks
everyone for the assistance i received while setting up Samba. I am going
to have an AS/400 mount an NFS directory on my linux server and it is going
to be constantly writing to this share. Also about 400 users are going to
be connected to this same share through samba, accessing via windows NT.
Has anyone heard of any issues

two printers: one works ok in w9x/2k, other printer unavailable in Win98 BUT ok in w2k!
Hi all,
I try to explain my strange Samba problem: I've done a linuxbox with
Mandrake 8.2 distro; installed Samba 2.2 packages and two printers attached
via parallel port: one works with the motherboard built-in parallel port,
the other is connected via a pci parallel port card. Both works fine on
win2000 clients (and on the linuxbox, too :); on windows 98 clients, both
printers are

Dear Andrew,
I really need you help on the Samba server I have installed on a Sun workstation with Solaris 2.8. The program have been compiled and installed successfully and all the tests ( including testparm and smbclient -U% -L localhost ) seemed to work fine. But when I tried to browse from my PC which has W2K professional, it failed every time. I can see the workstation listed in my Network

Weird problem connecting W2k workstation to domain
Hi all,
I'm using Samba 3.0.2a and after fussing around a bit, I got a W2k client
machine to join the domain. My original need to have this setup was to
create printer accounting so I put in a print command (see below) in the
printers section. Unfortunately, the accounting file wasn't written to.
Then I ran testparm -v and noticed there was a 'print command' field in

Connect to W2K share from Linux
Having trouble connecting to a share on a windows machine from a linux
machine.
I have been using samba for years to map from linux to windows, but no luck
the other way around.
I've read lots of how-to's but none of them work and don't even mention the
problem I'm having. I always get access denied errors. Tried the samba
troubleshooting guide which does talk about access errors,

smbclient 127.0.0.1 timeout .... PCs can't browse LInux share
Let's see I've got a network about 10 PCs running XP and 1 running
Linux. I had setup Samba and it was running like a charm. XP pcs
could access linux box through network neighborhood and access 2
shared dir and edit/change files.
Really not sure what has gone wrong. I am using Samba 2.2.8a
I run both smbd and nmbd as daemons. When I run ps -aux they show up.

Newbie - RedHat 7.2, Samba 2.2.5 problem - I'm begging here
Hello Samba Guru's,
I have been fighting with Samba on my RedHat 7.2 machine on my home LAN for
about two weeks now. Had no problems getting it working on a machine at work
running Debian powerpc 'woody' and Samba 2.2.1a but for the life of me I
can't get it working at home. It appears to be a netbios problem. The box
shows up in network neighborhood and when I do a net

Printing problems from W2k/NT4
Hello,
I recently upgraded our file server from RedHat6.2 to RedHat7.2.
This upgraded our (working) Samba 2.0.x to 2.2.1a-4. Now, the windows98
machines on the network can print without problems. The 2K/NT4 machines
cannot print, but they experience no problems with file sharing operations
(writeable /home/$USER).
The 2K/NT4 machines had been printing fine prior to the upgrade. I won't

w2k, adding printers and other questions.
RH 7.2, samba 2.2.5-1 installed via RPM. Using winbind. I'm trying to
see how much remote printer administration is possible from a w2k box,
and I'm having a few problems, several are probably related. HELP!
Few quick questions first, before the 2 big questions:
Not sure if it was necessary, but I put root = myNTlogin in smbusers
file. Is that completely wrong/pointless?

Samba as a PDC for W2K Network
Hi all. I hope someone here can help me with a bit of trouble I seem to be
having with Samba and Windows 2000. Here's the deal:
We are attempting to setup a Red Hat 7.3 machine (SYMPHONY2) running Samba
2.2.3a to act as a File Server and PDC for a number of Windows 2000
workstations. I have followed the instructions from
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html but

W2K Services connecting to Samba Share
We are running an HP/UX 11.0 server that is sharing out a filesystem. We
used to share it out via NFS and have NFS NT clients map this drive and then
perform a network share of it. This allows our application (which runs as
an NT/W2K Service) to see this drive and use it.
With Samba, I was able to create a batch file that I could run as a service
to perform the drive mapping, but because I am

W2K -Printing again
I can give you a suggestion that worked for me for the after reboot no
printer access. Make sure your printing daemon starts before your smb
starts. It seems that samba won't see an lpq/lpstat if there isn't one.
Funny how that works!! Hope this helps, and if I'm way off base, someone let
me know...

Changing Permissions from W2k to a samba share - Access Denied
Guys.
Two Questions:
1) when trying to set up permissions within W2k to a Samba Shared File,
I get access denied,
My Conf is Suse 9.1 Pro Samba 3.0.7 (ACL support) Reiserfs with ACL
support (setfacl works) - Winbind works great - Everything smooth
When I try to set up the permissions from W2K I get Access Denied
but I can see that log message says...
--> Too many ACE entries for file . to
