Win2k and Win9x printer drivers from 2.0.7?
Hello, All. Is it possible to have a Samba 2.0.7 server provide printer drivers for both Windows 98 and 2000 clients? I'm currently delivering Win98 drivers with great success, but we're beginning to have Windows 2000 clients on the network and I've been unable to trick Samba 2.0.7 into providing the proper files. Note that the Samba server provides just file and print services;

how to check open connections/files without smbstatus / swat
Hi, I have one user who should be able to _view_ all open files and connections on a samba server. He should not be allowed to login to the server by telnet or ssh to use smbstatus, nore should he be able to use swat as long as he could view the configfile. So my question: is there a way to configure swat for one user to only view the opened connections? Or dose someone has an other idea?

Samba and OS2 changeover
Here is the deal.. My company is currently running all of there file shares on an OS2 box that is attached to our as400. This has caused many problems with the as400 so we are going to move over to using Samba for file storage / network run applications. My question is this. I am planning to "clone" all the shares on our OS2 box with the Samba server that I have created, turn off the

Samba + username with spaces_
How does samba handle NT usernames that contains spaces. Also NT can have long usernames while Linux can only have 8-10 character long usernames. Is there anyway you can map those long usernames to Linux? Thanks MattB

Solve.QP
Hi there, I have a major problem (major for me that is) with solve.QP and I'm new at this. You see, to solve my quadratic program I need to have the lagrange multipliers after each iteration. Solve.QP gives me the solution, the unconstrained solution aswell as the optimal value. Does anybody have an idea for how I could extract the multipliers? Thanx, Serge "Beatus qui prodest quibus

Simple lme/lmer random effects questions
Hello, I have two very rudimentary questions regarding the random effects terms in the lme and lmer functions. I apologize if this also partly strays into a general statistics question, but I'm a bit new to this all. So hopefully it'll be a quick problem to sort out... Here is my experimental setup: I raised butterflies in 5 different testing chambers all set to different

functions for polynomial and rational interplation?
Are there implementations of, e.g. Neville's algorithm, for interpolating polynomials through some data points? Nevilles' is an improvement on Lagrange interpolation. And how about interpolating rational functions? I could not find anything at rseek.org or at crantastic.org. thanks -- View this message in context:

Quadratic Programming
Hi, I am using solve.QP (from quadprog) to solve a standard quadratic programming problem: min_w -0.5*w'Qw st ... I would like solve.QP to do two things: 1) to start the optimization from a user-supplied initial condition; i.e., from a vector w_0 that satisfies the constraints, and 2) to return the values of the lagrange multiplieres associated with the constraints. I did not find an obvious

fmincon equivalent in R
Dear all R users, I am wondering if there are any function for Constraint optimization in R. Especially i am looking for a R - equivalent of "fmincon" function in MATLAB. Thanks and regards, Arun [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Bearer capabilities on PRI
Hey all, I am running a Asterisk 1.2.9.1 with Sangoma A101 card, newest firmware, configured with a help from Sangoma Tech Support, running fine. It is connected to a PRI circuit split from Cisco MC 3810, which in turn is connected to a Converged T from CTC Communications. While Asterisk works fine and I can call in/out on my BV account, I am only able to dial in through CTC. I have spent

Possible bug in 2.0.7?
Hi. I'm setting up a Linux server (VA Linux version of Red Hat 6.2, kernel 2.2.14), and I've installed Samba 2.0.7 from the rpm samba-2.0.7-20000425.i386.rpm, packager John H Terpstra [Samba Team], build date Wed Apr 26 02:46:34 GMT 2000. My smb.conf file, and a portion of the log file, are at the end of this message. I'm trying to replace a NetWare server, which co-exists with an

Non-Linear Optimization - Query
Dear All, I couple of weeks ago, I’ve asked for a package recommendation for nonlinear optimization. In my problem I have a fairly complicated non-linear objective function subject to one non-linear equality constrain. I’ve been suggested to use the *Rdonlp2* package, but I did not get any results after running the program for 5 hrs. Is it normal to run this type of programs for hours? Also,

adding overall constraint in optim()
Hi Michael, A few comments 1. To add the constraint sum(wgt.vect=1) you would use the method of Lagrange multipliers. What this means is that in addition to the w_i (the components of the weight variables) you would add an additional variable, call it lambda. Then you would modify your optim.fun() function to add the term lambda * (sum(wgt.vect - 1) 2. Are you sure that you have defined

Speex WBB decoder on AT91SAM7S microcontroller?
Hi, I would like to compile the Speex fixed-point, WB decoder for an AT91SAM7S256 ARM7 microcontroller using gcc-arm-elf and was wondering, before I roll up my sleeves and try to figure out all the autoconf things that I'm really unfamiliar with, if anyone else has done this and can share their experiences. I see in the archives that some folk have compiled for this processor before but

Dynamic Change Parameters..
I am going to improve theora codec with dynamically changing way. In this case we want to change compression parameters like video_q, sharpness when a keyframe is generated. When i set video quality parameter using cpi-> pb.info.quality in CommpressKeyFrame in encoder_toplevel it will not change dynamically. Can you please help me to do this. Need help modding src.rpms to generate complete SAMBA AD DC binary RPMs for CentOS 8
When RHEL8 and CentOS8 were released, I was looking forward to setting up SAMBA as a AD DC server for CentOS8. But when I lifed the hood on the samba.spec file I found the option to build the samba-dc binary rpm has been disabled for rhel family builds. Apparently Red Hat does not want to support a unified SAMBA AD DC environment. I believe we have all of the componentns needed to set up a fully

1 should be 2. huh?
There''s another quirk I wanted to bring up. It''s about the failure message with should_equal and should_be. x.should_equal 2 a.should_not_be nil When they fail they yield messages like: 1 should equal 2 nil should not be nil When I''m caught off guard, which can be often, these messages confuse me. 1 should equal 2? No it shouldn''t. nil should not be
