Problems with admin interface / beta4
Hi folks, I've been running icecast-2.3.99.3 in production since it was released. It solved a problem of the icecast process terminating from time to time and appears quite stable. In the process of moving to new servers I noticed beta 4 and compiled it for FreeBSD 10 on a dell poweredge. I have been unable to get the administrative interface working properly. You can view

Memory usage reported by gc() differs from 'top'
In help(gc) I read, "...the primary purpose of calling 'gc' is for the report on memory usage". What memory usage does gc() report? And more importantly, which memory uses does it NOT report? Because I see one answer from gc(): used (Mb) gc trigger (Mb) max used (Mb) Ncells 14875922 794.5 21754962 1161.9 17854776 953.6 Vcells 59905567 457.1 84428913 644.2

unexpectedly high memory use in R 2.14.0
I recently started using R 2.14.0 on a new machine and i am experiencing what seems like unusually greedy memory use. It happens all the time, but to give a specific example, let's say i run the following code -------- for(j in 1:length(files)){ load(file.path(dump.dir, files[j])) mat.data[[j]]<-data } save(abind(mat.data, along=2), file.path(dump.dir, filename)) ---------

File cacheing problem?
I have a Linux box (Pentium III processor, 256M RAM) running kernel version 2.4.3, and smbmount version 2.0.7. The Linux box has a Windows 2000 Server share mounted via "mount -t smbfs ...". I am running into what seems to be a cacheing problem. I am doing software development on this share, editing the files from a Win98 workstation, and compiling on the Linux box. However,

Slow backup and kernel upgrade issue.
I have a DL360 with dual 1266MHz processors, 2GB memory, and two 18.2 GB hard drives mirrored using the integrated controller. Partitions are formatted as ext3. I have noticed that the backup is up to 10 times slower than similar systems we have using ext2 instead of ext3. I am not utilizing any of the journaling capabilities of the filesystem. In addition, I have tried to upgrade the kernel

Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
