Unicode? Diacriticals
I just got 2.2.2 setup on a Mac OSX machine using the Samba X from the
SourceForge project. Testing showed great performance, but clients can't
access files with diacriticals in the filenames. I couldn't find anything
on how to do this with the provided configuration tool, but wonder if
there's a way to do so directly in Samba. (?)
Also, we're a small shop and I'm mapping

Problems with utmp
Hi there,
I'm using samba-2.2.2 under Solaris 8 and I've got the following problem!
I have configured samba with "--with-utmp" and with "--with-quota" and
everything works fine. But when look for the last users logged in, in the
utmp-database there are only the first seven letters of the username, not
eight that we use for usernames.
Can you help me with this problem

dovecot patch for TCB auth
Hi,
I'm writing to you on behalf of the Pasteur Institute's (Paris,
France) IT team. We're currently using dovecot-0.99.10.5_2 on a
FreeBSD 5.3. We're planning to upgrade to dovecot-1.x with an openLDAP
user and password database and patch it at the same time to include
some authentication feature we're using :
Since most of our user currently don't use dovecot at all and

Actually syslinux.efi seems to be using the implementation calling into
UEFI via these functions:
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/boot/syslinux/syslinux.git/tree/efi/tcp.c
I've tried to add debug messages to these

OpenUsePrivilegeSeparation on Compaq V5.1A with C2/SIA Security
I'm using OpenSSH_3.5p1 (server protocol 2.0 ) on a Compaq device V5.1A with
C2 Security (SIA)
configured.
I must set UsePrivilegeSeparation to no to get this working.
Does anyone have PrivilegeSeparation working on a Compaq device with C2
Security configured?

Please release samba-2.0.7 and SWAT i18n
I belong to Samba Users Group Japan and maintain Samba 2.0.5a Japanized
version. It's only l10n'ed Samba , but is used widely in Japan.
And now we are planning to release next Samba Japanized version. But
Samba 2.0.6 is half i18n'ed and more difficult to do l10n than 2.0.5a
and as we said to Mr. Allison on 18th Dec. 1999 in Japan, the i18n
of current SAMBA_2_0 branch works well, so we

Compilation of syslinux against musl libc
Hello,
I wanted to ask if there's a reason efi/wrapper.{h,c} use __uint*_t
instead of including stdint.h and using the therein defined uint*_t
types? This breaks compilation of the efi blobs on systems with the musl
libc since that doesn't define __uint*_t types.

[PPC] Linker fails on -fstack-protector
When -fstack-protector is turned on, linker fails to find the symbol
"__stack_chk_guard"
because at least for powerpc64le, glibc doesn't provide this symbol.
Instead, they put the stack guard into TCB.
x86 fixed this issue by injecting a special address space (which is later
translated to TCB register access) and hard code the offset of stack_guard,
but I don't see a easy way to

[PPC] Linker fails on -fstack-protector
I'll come up with a address-space-based proof of concept.

[PPC] Linker fails on -fstack-protector
I found a bit weird to use address space for this, since the offset of
getting stack_guard in TCB is, unfortunately, negative:
https://github.com/gcc-mirror/gcc/blob/master/gcc/config/rs6000/linux64.h#L610
In my understanding an address space is referring to a segment register
(-on powerpc 32bit; or SLB entry on powerpc 64bit?) with a non-negative
offset value, so that it's actually accessing

[PATCH] Remove .config directory dependency
Previously klibc $(objtree)/.config depended on the kernel output
directory. This would cause 'defconfig has changed, please remove or
edit .config' build errors if $(KLIBCKERNELOBJ) directory was modified.
This directory dependency is a false dependency that does not indicate
that the target, $(objtree)/.config, needs to be regenerated.
