ghostscript errors
gday R friends, Since I had random errors with ghostscript 6.01 I thought I'd upgrade. After upgrading to gs6.5 I've had problems. Originally, gs failed complaining about lack of "__sysconf" in glibc2.2 so I upgraded glibc. Now I get this. Note that it used to work with gs6.01. I realise this is probably a ghostscript problem but you never know... thanks, John Strumila >

R-devel Digest, Vol 34, Issue 5
actually, I can confirm now that gs AFPL 8.53 is the "culprit" here on #2, copied below again (though it is not a bug but a feature, albeit one you need to know about.) the -dSAFER switch, which appears in later versions of AFPL gs, not only eliminates renamefile and deletefile (manpage), but seemingly also allows only fonts in the GS_LIB path to be used export

How to use omega to search remote back end?
Folks, Having trouble getting this to work. OMEGA cgi is not reading my stub file properly because it is trying to read it as a directory instead of a file. Is there an easy fix? adding "Page X of XX" to PDFs
Sorry, jumped into the thread too late. (On the other hand, once the document gets complicated enough, it may be worth it in the long run to convert to something that actually has a document-generating back-end, rather than reinventing everything from scratch ...) Sweave vignettes and bitmap on windows
During vignette generation on Windows, Sweave seems to clean up before all graphics files are completely processed. For instance, if tmp.Rnw is: \documentclass[12pt]{article} \begin{document} <<>>= bitmap("afile.png") plot(1:100) dev.off() @ \end{document} Then: C:\R\tmp>R CMD Sweave tmp.Rnw Writing to file tmp.tex Processing code chunks ... 1 : echo term verbatim

Example in pdf() help file (PR#8083)
The example in the help file for pdf() plots the characters outside the plotting area in this for loop: for(i in c(32:255)) { x <- i y <- i points(x, y, pch=i) } The following loop seems to be working as intended for(i in c(32:255)) { x <- (i-31)%%16 y <- (i-31)%/%16 points(x, y, pch=i) } As an extra

adding "Page X of XX" to PDFs
It's still not entirely clear to me what framework you're using to generate the PDF, but if it's rmarkdown/Rnw (Sweave)/Quarto-based, then as far as I know all of those frameworks use LaTeX as the last step in the script-to-PDF pipeline, and allow the inclusion of arbitrary LaTeX code, so the 'lastpage' package would do this for you:

Centos 7: printing four copies with Libreoffice prints garbage
I have a Xerox Phaser 3250 printer It worked perfectly under Centos 6 when I told cups that it was a Xerox Phaser 3150. It works under Centos 7, too. I can print pdf files from evince and whatnot with no problems, and printing one, two or three copies of a document from libreoffice works as well. However, if I tell libreoffice to print four copies of a document ("number of copies"

SOLVED: Centos 7: printing four copies with Libreoffice prints garbage
After much head scratching and throwing most of a ream of paper into the trash, I just found and solved the problem. Thinking that perhaps I have a cable issue, I was re-seating the usb cable that connects my Xerox Phaser 3250 printer to the computer and realized that the printer was plugged into a USB 3.0 port on my computer. When I moved it to a USB 2.0 port, the printer immediately started

possible bug running Finale 2009 on Wine 1.2
Hi, I'm running Finale 2009 on Wine 1.2.2 on Kubuntu 10.10. Everything works great, including MIDI and VST playback, but I just noticed a bug in the Manage Parts dialogue. When I click the "Add to Part" button, Wine crashes with an error dialogue, and then freezes when I click to close the error dialogue. The "Remove from Part" button works fine, I have replicated this

Installation of Finale 2004 failed
Hello, I am using wine 20050310, on a (heavily updated) rh9 system. Wine was installed from RPM; no alterations of /etc/wine/config were done, except a change of default fonts to the Russian-enabled versions and an addition of the directory where Windows Core TTF fonts reside. I tried to install Finale 2004 by rinning its setup program: $ wine "e:\finale 2004\finale2004.exe" The

Help With Post-hoc Testing
I am trying to do post-hoc tests associated with a repeated measures analysis with on factor nested within respondents. The factor (SOI) has 17 levels. The overall testing is working fine, but I can''t seem to get the multiple comparisons to work. The first step is to "stack" the data. Then I used "lme" to specify and test the overall model. Finally

"Fixme" attempting to run Finale
Hello, I am running Wine 20030911 on ASP Linux 9 (a Red Hat-based distro). This build of Wine was supplied by the distro provider. The Wine config is at the defaults (except some drive configs - but drive C is at the default value, which is the $/,wine/c directory, with initial contents from the Wine package). I am trying to run the Finale music development software (would like to know if it

final value of nnet with censored=TRUE for survival analysis
Hi there, I´ve a question concerning the nnet package in the area of survival analysis: what is the final value, which is computed to fit the model with the following nnet-c all: net <- nnet(cat~x, data=d, size=2, decay=0.1, censored=TRUE, maxit=20, Wts=rep(0,22), Hess=TRUE) where cat is a matrix with a row for each record and
