Access to string file owner names
All -- I'd like to be able to do an 'ls -l' in smbclient and have the user name show up as it is on the server, but when I look through the code it looks like libsmbclient is already doing mapping to *nix-style stat structures, which use uid_ts (ints). I've been rooting around in the code a bit trying to understand enough to see if I could get string-oriented owner info, but I

Error messages 3.0.6pre1
I compiled 3.0.6pre1, including the crtimes and fileflags patches for use on Intel OS X 10.5.6, as described by Mr. Bombich (thanks!) here: <http://www.bombich.com/mactips/rsync.html> I want to use 3.0.6 because it seems that this bug: <https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5365> has been resolved (yay!). ----- [~]$ rsync --version rsync version 3.0.6pre1 protocol version 30

[LLVMdev] patch: purdy colours for makefiles
Here is a patch to add colour to build output (make) for LLVM sources. Feedback and ideas welcome. The patch replaces $(Echo) usage in some key rules in Makefile.rules with $(Banner) which invokes a new script utils/make-banner.sh which is capable of adding appropriate ANSI escape sequences. step1: apply patch step2: chmod 755 utils/make-banner.sh step3: export MAKE_BANNER_ANSI=1 Next, you must

Session Logging
I'm using R from a Linux command prompt, and am logging the whole session by tee'ing the R invocation line. ie. R | tee -a Rlog.txt Is there a better way to log all the session input and output from within R? Stan Smiley stan.smiley at genetics.utah.edu

Incomplete ouput with sink and split=TRUE
Dear List, I am trying to get R's terminal output to a file and to the terminal at the same time, so that I can walk through some tests and keep a log concurrently. The function 'sink' with the option split=TRUE seems to do just that. It works fine for most output but for objects of class htest, the terminal output is incomplete (the lines are there but empty). Here is an

looks in liblapack.a not liblapack.so
I can't compile R-alpha on AMD 64. Rather than include a 1400 line script I have put it on the web http://www.stat.umn.edu/~charlie/typescript.txt way down near the bottom it fails building lapack.so gcc -shared -L/usr/local/lib64 -o lapack.so Lapack.lo -llapack -lblas -lg2c -lm -lgcc_s /usr/lib64/gcc-lib/x86_64-suse-linux/3.3.5/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin/ld:

[LLVMdev] LLVM on Solaris/Intel?
Is LLVM supported on Solaris 10/Intel? I tried building the 2.7 pre-release today but it failed to build (tried gcc 4.2 and 4.4). It fails trying to link in one of the directories. Here's a small part of the make output (it's huge): http://pastebin.com/ZeZQgKqz I didn't see Solaris/Intel listed as a supported platform and I haven't ever tried to debug LLVM build problems

Command line logging program suggestions?
I am looking for an app that would run from the terminal and would emulate a bash shell (or pass everything to the shell) that would allow me to set a log file and then record all my input and the output to the screen from the commands. As an added bonus if it would allow me to run it from two terminals (or more) on the same machine and log all the input and output to the same file while still

libusb_get_string: invalid argument
Greg, I'm still not 100% on what is going on, but after comparing the call stack with a debug session here, I think I have at least identified why I wasn't seeing similar behavior. There are two ways that the driver can get information from the UPS: asking the UPS for a specific report (which returns one or more values), and checking the interrupt pipe (which the UPS can fill with

escape char clutter makes prompt unreadable
hey folks, Im using pxelinux to boot a Soekris box (which works fine to a default image) Ive added a bunch of LABEL, KERNEL pairs, but I cant read the display; Im buried in escape codes. Ive captured some of it to a typescript file: it starts out kosher, but goes unreadable rather quickly, 0005520 \r T F T P . 0005540 / \b \r 0005560 *

6.0-REL problems with ISA ed0, FFS corruption and ancient hardware
[ Asked on -questions on Friday; re-asking now on -stable without cross-post] I recently upgraded a 4.11-REL machine to 6.0-REL and have run into some snags. While the installation from CD went fine, after configuring and enabling my ed0 NIC, bad things start to happen. FWIW, this machine is an ancient (hardware circa 1991, BIOS circa 1994) dual-Pentium 133 MHz machine, with EISA/PCI and
