WINS Question?
I have setup my Samba server as a WINS server using the wins support = yes
parameter.
My remote network can see the Samba server at our head office fine.
I have also setup the WINS setting on my PC (W2K Pro box) to point to the IP
address of my Samba server.
When I do a nmblookup -R -U <IP address of WINS server> <name of my PC> on
my Samba server I get this reponse;

winbind/samba across subnet bounderies?
I have two samba servers (version 2.2.2-2, debian sid) with
identical configuration. One stands in the server room and is
part of the server subnet. the other is in the normal 'user'
subnet. I added both server (several times!) to the win2000
domain. the procedure was identical. Both have secret.tbs files
of 8192 bytes opposite to the 6xx bytes which they have when they
are not joined to

wbinfo -t fails, what now?
I have two samba machines, one has the problem I describe in the
earlier mail.
The other works much better and also there I have the (same) smb.conf:
egrep '^[^;]' /etc/samba/smb.conf
[global]
printing = cups
printcap name = /etc/printcap
load printers = yes
guest account = nobody
invalid users = root

WINS server not appearing in Nethood
Hi folks,
I've had a setup working for quite some time and everything's fine except that
the server that hosts the WINS never appears in the network neighbourhood,
and when trying to connect to that server there is a small delay.
As few people need to browse to it, the problem's had a low priority as the
WINS side of it is working fine, and the rest of the nethood is also working

Smbclient Connection to Samba server failed
I played with the smb.config file long enough to get both the smbd and nmbd daemons to run. Then ran TESTPARM against the correct smb, conf file without issue. Finally I tried the following command:

added interface ip=172.17.60.6 bcast=172.17.63.255 nmask=255.255.248.0

tcng configuration question??
Greetings all,
OK - just started playing around with traffic shaping - have imq and htb
and (I think) everything else I need in the kernel and running well. My
initial lab task was to protect a H.323 session over a simulated half T1
while adding bulk traffic - got that accomplished after slogging through
learning tc and decided in short order that a more intuitive interface

linux-ha heartbeat .. failover firewall
I have searched your FAQ''s and read the documentation on your site as well
as googling. I am not able to figure this out. If you have any ideas can
you please help.
I am using the linux-ha failover with redundant firewalls.
As part of the function of the linux-ha software consists a service called
heartbeat which is a connection from each failover node through a serial
cable or ethernet.

About BDC
Hi list,
First let me give something about my network
structure

VPN GATEWAY

GATEWAY

192.168.5.0-->192.168.5.3 (PDC)
Right now I'm having
192.168.5.3(SAMBA+LDAP PDC) and WINS server, and I want to build a BDC
(192.168.4.3) on the other side of the VPN.
my questions are:
1. is it
possible?
2. is BDC needs to be setup as a WINS server

Bigger problems than ogg
Ok,
After following BJ's advice and removing ogg.so I then got a
pbx_realtime.so error in the same fashion. I removed that file, and
then the next and then the next as you can see in the log below.
I think something is not right. duh here is my sign..lol...but I am
not sure even where this ast_register_file_version flag is in a config
file or what step I have missed. I am doing a VOIP only

dovecot freezes when trying to get mail from maildir with mail
I'm completely stumped by this problem and I've tried everything at
present - including installing dovecot from scratch.
The problem is that when trying to get email from the server -AND-
there's email in the account, the pop3 or imap process freezes and no
email is fetched. The crazy thing is, that it has been working
perfectly, but suddenly I'm getting these freezes both

smbclient fails
Hi,
I've searched thru this list and saw other mentions of this, but no real
solid responses on how to fix it.
I've got a linux box (red hat 7.2) running Samba 2.2.5. I've got 2 NICs
in the server, 1 to my internal network, and 1 to a PIX firewall/VPN
that connects to an office across the state. The Linux box is the only
thing plugged into that PIX. (I've verified everything

I'm getting stuck at the replication part for my BDC. Could

I'm sure
that password is correct
Thanks for taking a look at!
