[Fallout2] Maybe problems with graphics acceleration?
I had normal version of wine for fallout2 and war3, but I've deleted it and I can't reinstall it now.
I have Debian testing and newest wine 1.3 from ubuntu ppas. Nvidia video
When I start fallout 2 I see start picture and game hangs. Same problems with warcraft3.
there are some strange sound artifacts (like pulsing) in both games.
The problem exists both in windowed and fullscreen mode

Slow fsck on adaptec SAS/SATA raid
I'm trying to do an fsck on an ext3 partition but I'm seeing abysmally slow
disk throughput; monitoring with "dstat" (like vmstat) shows ~1200-1500KB/s
throughput to the disks. Even with 24hrs of fsck-ing I only get ~3% (still in
pass1).
The filesystem is ext3 running "e2fsck -C0 /dev/sda3" and about 3.7TB on an
x86_64-based system with 4GB RAM. e2fsprogs is 1.41.9.

problem (and fix) with -fms-extensions
I've tried to build something that wanted ms-extensions on OpenBSD.
Long story short, didn't work so well, because all system includes
lead to
<machine/_types.h>
#ifndef __cplusplus
typedef int __wchar_t;
#endif
and since ms-extensions includes __char_t as a built-in, this did fail
abysmally.
It would be simple to fix in OpenBSD, assuming clang did tell us it

libvirt, lvm thin provisioning
I know that lvm supports thin provisioning, and I think I have a pretty
good grasp on how that works. Does libvirt support lvm thin
provisioning and thin snapshots?
I know that in order to set up lvm thin provisioning by hand, I have to
create a thin-provisioning pool within the volume group, and then
thin-provisioned logical volumes and thin-provisioned snapshots can be
created within that

A complicated 'aggregate'
Hi,
I have a financial (zoo) time series with prices and volumes (although I can
get the coredata as a matrix). Due to the data-source some indices have
multiple observations. I want to aggregate these according to a weighted
average.

sftp / latest snapshot
Hi!
I have just played around a little bit with the actual CVS on HP-UX 10.20.
- In openbsd-compat/Makefile.in the .c.o default rule is missing:
.c.o:
$(CC) $(CFLAGS) $(CPPFLAGS) -c $<
- Linking sftp fails, because seed_rng() cannot be resolved. Actually it
is in entropy.c (libssh) and needed by arc4random.c. A similar problem
has been discussed several days ago and the problem should

A Billion Files on OCFS2 -- Best Practices?
We have an application that has many processing threads writing more than a
billion files ranging from 2KB ? 50KB, with 50% under 8KB (currently there
are 700 million files). The files are never deleted or modified ? they are
written once, and read infrequently. The files are hashed so that they are
evenly distributed across ~1,000,000 subdirectories up to 3 levels deep,
with up to 1000 files

Status of hardware performance counters in Xen
Hello everyone,
I''m wondering what the current status of hardware performance counter
usability in Xen is. I see some old posts describing the diffculties of
virtualizing hardware counters within dom0 and the domUs, but not much else.
Have they been implemented or are they in the process of being implemented? Or
are there no future plans for implementation? Any help would be

random number generator: same seed used in different sessions
I did several simulation sessions and the result turned out to be a
surprise. After some investigation, I found that different R sessions
of the program used the same seed. Simply, in R210, if I start R and
type rnorm(1), I always get the same random number. This is
contradictary to what is in the R document
Initially, there is no seed; a new one is created from the
current time when one

'ssh -f' option, interoperability with ssh v2.3.0
i'm trying to use the ssh command's -f option with OpenSSH v2.1.1p4 on
linux (RedHat v6.2). this option doesn't seem to be working properly on my
system - the specified is run succesfully but it isn't put to the
background. is this a known problem?
also, OpenSSH doesn't seem to interoperate with SSH Communications

ldiskfs-ext4 interoperability question
Our current Lustre servers run the version 1.8.1.1 with the regular ldiskfs.
We are looking to expand our Lustre file system with new servers/storage and upgrade to all the lustre servers to 1.8.4 as well at the same time. We
would like to make use of the ldiskfs-ext4 on the new servers to use larger OSTs.
I just want to confirm the following facts:
1. Is is possible to run different versions

G729a and G729 interoperability
Hello!
I am wondering how the differences between G729, G729a, and G729b
effect call bridging and server interoperability. For example, can
one server use the G729 code with another server that uses the G729A
codec?
Also, which version is Asterisk set up to use?
Thanks!

Interoperability between TE412P and Eurotech PRI E1 GSM & CDMA Gateway
Hi,
I am about to purchase an Eurotech PRI E1 GSM & CDMA Gateway to operate
with my Asterisk's TE412P interface.
Anyone here has any experience of having this combination? Any success
or failure stories would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Question about codecs and interoperability with cisco AS5350
Hi all.
I'm going to implement some large Asterisk based solution. Maybe 4-5 PCs with 1-2 E1/T1 trunks on each.
Because some of the traffic will be sended to external VoIP provider, i has some questions
1. Which is the lowest bandwidth consuming codec in Asterisk, which is compatible with Cisco Gateways. Stability is needed too.
2. Have someone allready bulded such a systems and what

video calls - Windows / Linux interoperability ?
I will install Asterisk on my home server, I want to be able to route
video calls, but I need the Windows and Linux clients to be interoperable.
On Linux, it looks like Ekiga is a good candidate. But how about Windows?
Anyone using Kapanga in an Asterisk network that includes Ekiga? Are
these two interoperable?
I'm not necessarily looking for open source software, free for personal
