Trying to boot a SSD of 500GB
Yes, I tried to dd the mbr.bin and use both --install and --stupid parameters. The FAT32 partition is bootable. Here is what I did: $ sudo fdisk /dev/sda -l Disk /dev/sda: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders, total 976773168 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal):

Backup of large filesystems >500GB
I've a small system that I use to support a number of churches. I provide web and email for them. My current server is running CentOS 6.3 with paired 1TB drives in a RAID1 configuration. It works well. One filesystem is very large, >500GB, and contains numerous large files: SQL, docs, church libraries in ebook and digital form, plus stored videos of church services. Trying to boot a SSD of 500GB
Hi, I have a custom linux system that runs off a FAT32 usb flash disk. I use syslinux to make it bootable and load the kernel. I'm trying to boot now from a SSD SATA disk (500GB) but it's not working and I can't figure out why. BIOS show that no bootable disk were found. What I already tried (linux fdisk): 1- Creating a new DOS partition table on the SSD, a FAT32 (type b), and

powerd not behaving with an Asus A8V-MX and Athlon 64 X2 3800+
I have an Asus A8V-MX motherboard with an AMD Athlong 64 X2 3800+ CPU and I'm trying to run powerd to keep it cooler/quieter/greener. I'm running -STABLE (6.1-RC) cvsup'ed a couple of days ago, with a kernel config that consists of the SMP sample plus an atapicam device. I'm loading the cpufreq.ko module in /boot/loader.conf. I've attached my dmesg output and sysctl -a
