Unicode? Diacriticals
I just got 2.2.2 setup on a Mac OSX machine using the Samba X from the SourceForge project. Testing showed great performance, but clients can't access files with diacriticals in the filenames. I couldn't find anything on how to do this with the provided configuration tool, but wonder if there's a way to do so directly in Samba. (?) Also, we're a small shop and I'm mapping

But when look for the last users logged in, in the utmp-database there are only the first seven letters of the username, not eight that we use for usernames. Can you help me with this problem

Flac-dev Digest, Vol 45, Issue 2
Along the same line as Frederick, myself and another university student were able to implement a multi threaded FLAC encoder, but using Intel's Threading Building Blocks (TBB) package. We saw similar near-linear speedup. Our solution is a bit more convoluted since we were learning the API, TBB and writing the encoder all in one 6 week period. We used a pipeline model on the input stream, and

Heterogeneous XCP 1.6 pool
Hi, I''ve been trying to use E5520 and X5650 together in an heterogeneous pool without success. I know the combination is not on the official XenServer supported list (http://hcl.xensource.com/CPUPoolsList.aspx), but I thought it would be possible to set the mask anyway and see for myself if the combination works… My problem is that the mask doesn''t "stick" after a

Locate first index
Hi, all. I'd like to know if exists a manner to get the first index where a condition is attained in a vector. For example, There is a better solution than first.index <- table(subject[corretor==27])[1] (give me the subject for the first time that corretor is 27)? PHP probes
Hi all, I remember at OSCON 2005 there was talk of adding DTrace probes to PHP (in fact, I have a photo of Bryan and Wes working on it!). Did they ever get into the upstream branch, ''cause I don''t recall seeing a --enable-dtrace (or similar) configuration option when I recently built PHP 5.2.1. If not, is there an ETA? GO & Protein Complex Analysis for Homo sapiens
Dear All, I need to fetch GO ontologies for Homo sapiens with their mappings to corresponding Uniprot identifiers. I would be using this information to compare result from a clustering algorithm with existing protein complexes. This would be a test to check how the clustering algorithm accurately captures GO terms with respect to the known protein complexes. Can anyone suggest a simple workflow

Mitsubishi 2033C via gamtronic (SEC)?
Hi guys, I have a couple Mitsubishi 2033C UPSes that I badly want data from. We used to have Mitsubishi Netcom devices which took the serial output and provided a web interface, SNMP, and email alerts. All of those devices died. They're really awful devices (they're clunky and have 386s in them) and not worth the pricetag for a replacement. The closest replacement I've seen

X4500 ILOM thinks disk 20 is faulted, ZFS thinks not.
Hey Guys, Have any of y''all seen a condition where the ILOM considers a disk faulted (status is 3 instead of 1), but ZFS keeps writing to the disk and doesn''t report any errors? I''m going to do a scrub tomorrow and see what comes back. I''m curious what caused the ILOM to fault the disk. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Jason P.S. The system is

Flac-dev Digest, Vol 45, Issue 4
That's true, TBB is limited in compatibility. I don't necessarily think that's where a parallel FLAC API should head, but they're something to be said for Intel's increasing openness with the project and the pipeline design itself. The pipeline could possible be ported to pthreads. Our project was conceived as a way to learn TBB by doing, so we didn't put any time/thought

Solaris 8/9 branded zones on ZFS root?
Hi all, I have a situation where I need to consolidate a few servers running Solaris 9 and 8. If the application doesn''t run natively on Solaris 10 or Nevada, I was thinking of using Solars 9 or 8 branded zones. My intent would be for the global zone to use ZFS boot/root; would I be correct in thinking that this will be OK for the branded zones? That is, they don''t care about
