Powerware 3105 - SuSE 10.0
Hi, I'm trying to get a Powerware 3105 UPS working on SuSE 10.0. I have compiled nut from the current Subversion repository. This UPS uses the bcmxcp_usb driver. I cannot get the driver to find the ups on the USB bus. The error message I get is:- -------------- bcmxcp_usb -u nut -DDDDD -a pw3105 -------------------- Network UPS Tools - BCMXCP UPS driver 0.10 (2.1.0) debug level is

Authentication problem with samba 2.2.5
We have started to upgrade or Unix servers from Samba 2.0.7 to Samba 2.2.5. I did one machine as test and all worked fine. Today I tried adding two more today and both come up with the "Incorrect password or unknown username" box in Windows Explorer. All the Unix servers are running Solaris 7. I did the make on an NFS file system once and then ran 'make install' on each

NT groups vs Unix Groups
Hello, I'm not clear withs groups mapping between NT and Unix Groups. Configuration : PDC : NT4 box (PDC won't migrate to samba) Samba 2.2.8a (UCLA binary) / AIX 5.2 Security = domain. Some NT users and groups have more than 8 cars. For the users, we have the "usermap" file, seems to work fine. What is the solution for the groups ? On the other hand, is the NT group membership

Promoting Samba to PDC in NT domain?
Hi, I've a Samba 2.0.7 server in a NT4 domain with PDC and BDCs NT Servers around. The network is subnetted into 255.255.255.128, the samba machine is in 192.168.1.229 while the PDC and BDC are in 192.168.1.44 and 192.168.1.78. When I created the samba box, I ran server manager in NT to make it a server, NOT PDC/BDC. The setup has been running for more than 4 weeks without problems. Today,

rsync 3.2.7 hangs when --usermap is used and receiver is not a super-user
After upgrading to rsync 3.2.7, the following command hangs forever (using "--usermap" causes the hang; without "--usermap" it doesn't hang): rsync -v -p -e --usermap user:user /etc/services user at remote: It did not hang with rsync 3.2.3. Not sure if it's intended behaviour? The fine manual says that --usermap should be used as a super-user on the receiver, but

NT4 SP3 and Samba - Connection problems
Hello All, First, I am new to Linux. I am having troubles with NT4 SP3 and samba-1.9.18p5: some NT4 nodes can map Linux and/or Unix drives, some others can't. The errors messages are: - this account is not authorized to login from this station or - incorrect password or unknown username (but I am sure that login/password are ok) I have already check the EnablePlainTextPassword = 1 in the

Problems authenticating against NT PDC
I'm relatively new to Samba so please excuse any inconsistencies with my terminology. I'm running Samba 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.6 and having problems creating the Samba server machine account on an NT PDC. I already have an NT based domain 'PCDEV' which consists of a number of NT 4.0 workstations as well as a PDC ('AULE') and BDC running NT 4.0 Server with sp5 (??). My NT

Problem with Sharp AR-286 PCL Printer
I am having a problem getting the PCL driver for the Sharp AR-286 working. This is an LPD network printer. I created a queue on our Redhat Samba server using the raw driver. The windows drivers uploaded to the Samba server without a problem. But whenever I try to print anything to the printer it comes out garbled. I installed the postscript drivers for the same printer without any problem and

rsync-3.1.0 bug in cmdline parsing for option --usermap and --groupmap
Hello! I think there is a small bug in cmdline parsing for option usermap and groupmap. If you give multiple mappings to --usermap or --groupmap, only the first one is used. Example: rsync -a --usermap=userA:userB,userC:userD <src> <dst> -> Only the user mapping for userA to userB is used, the second mapping is ignored. The attached patch fixed the problem for me. Greetings

Samba 3.0 question, DOMAIN vs. SERVER method? Help!
Hello all! We are attempting to get Samba-3.0.10 working on a new Solaris 8 machine in preparation for upgrading an existing 2.2.8 installation (both use the SMCsamba packages from SunFreeware.com). We copied over the smb.conf file and the usermap from the Samba-2 installation, and seeing some weird symptoms when Windows users try to connect to the new machine. We ran "net join" to
