custom sql queries beyond CRUD
Hi, I am just starting of in rails. I am trying to understand the features of rails and I have this burning question. (and search is not available now): Apart from relying on the automatic CRUD sql script produced, is there a way I can create my own sql script ex: with many joins between exixting tables (for reporting ). All I need is to declare the custom query and place the result in a

Attach libvirt guest to an existing openvswitch port
Good day gentlemen. I am building a study project and trying to configure openvswitch vlans outside libvirt by means of openvswitch itself. Somehow with interface types 'bridge' and 'network', libvirt does attach domain to the existing port specified in <target dev=''/>, wiping the exixting settings and always deletes this port upon domain shutdown, thus making me

Hi to all, I would like to replace the operating system on one gluster brick. Is it possible to hold the data on the brick? If yes, how can I connect the data partition back to the new brick. I will remove the brick from the volume and remove the peer from the pool first. Then setup the new OS then I would like to configure the new brick and bind the exixting partion to the new brick. Or

changing character strings with hash marks
Hi R users, I am quite new to R and I don't know how to deal with this (surely) easy issue. I need to replace words in sentences with as many hash marks as the number of characters per each word, as in the following example: Mary plays football #### ##### ######## Any suggestion about the function to be used? Thanks a lot. S. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

subsetting levels of a vector
Hi, I need to subset different levels of vector in a dataset to create a new dataframe that contains only these. These observations are not numerical, so I can't use the subset() function (at least this is the response I get from R). Suppose the dataframe looks like this:   ParticipID    ERP   Electrode 1         s1  0.0370       FP1 2         s2 35.0654       FP2 3         s3

svyglm and sandwich estimator of variance
Hi, I would like to estimate coefficients using poisson regression and then get standard errors that are adjusted for heteroskedasticity, using a complex sample survey data. Then I will calculate prevalence ratio and confidence intervals. Can sandwich estimator of variance be used when observations aren?t independent? In my case, observations are independent across groups (clusters), but

I am using 2014-01-23 r64861. However, I cannot seem to install the lattice package. I tried within R using install.packages and got the error sh: 1: 1: not found I then downloaded the tar.gz and tried

Bootstrap lmekin model
Hi,I use the 'lmekin' model of the 'kinship' package of R in order to estimate heritability. I want to estimate the confidence interval of the variance coefficient and so I should use a bootstrap simulation. The pedigree file has 1386 subjects so I create a kinship matrix [1386*1386].This is the code of R I use: kfit2 <- lmekin(IT~1+AGE +(1|ID), dati1,

Fwd: Re: Attach libvirt guest to an existing openvswitch port
Thank you, Laine for you time and patience to give me a detailed answer. I missed the interfaceid parameter in the docs, but now I didn't manage to get it working. > http://www.libvirt.org/formatdomain.html The docs state: "The Open vSwitch type virtualport accepts two parameters in its <parameters> element - an interfaceid which is a standard uuid used to uniquely identify
