rotate of logfiles
Hello list.
This is not a life-threatening question, but still quite important for
debugging.
I have the following crontab :
15 0,8,12,17 * * * /usr/sbin/asterisk -rx 'logger rotate'
Because I have debug level 9, logfiles get quite large.
I notice that the rotation of the logfiles goes to plan, except at 17h15.
I currently have :

uninitialized constant ActsAsFerret (NameError)
Hi all,
I have another problem that I fight with for some time and I could not
understand where is the problem. Probably the problem is that I am quite
"green" in RR :)
I am trying to make the Demo Application that comes with Ferret to work
but I guess something with my environment is not OK.
I will do apreciate any help.
[root at moonlight FerretDemo]# ./script/server

Using the rsync checksums for handling large logfiles.
Dear all,
I've only just joined this list, but I can't find any mention of this
idea anywhere else, so I thought I'd just post here before getting too
deep into programming and possibly reinventing the wheel.
Here at Aber, we have around 30 unix and linux servers doing core services.
Each one is maintaining its own logfiles and, for various reasons, we want to
keep these on the

running it as myself ("dan") - the same as the owner of the logfiles
and of the containing folder.
i did try running it as root at first, but as you probably know, you
get a warning message if you try to do that.

Sort logfiles at rotation time
Hi,
I want to be certain that my apache and varnish logfiles are in strict
date order when rotated. I'd like to run a sort command against them
before they're compressed.
I've had a look at the logrotate man page, and it looks like I can use
a postrotate/endscript to do this. However, I can see any reference
in the documentation for how to operate on the file. All the examples

zaphfc no callerid incoming to SIP phone butvisible in logfile
Try commenting out the line
pritrustusercid = yes
Or set it to 'no'.
That worked for me.

zaphfc no callerid incoming to SIP phone but visible in logfile
Hello,
I've added a ZAPHFC card to my CAPI based system. Calls coming in via
ZAPHFC do not forward the caller id to the SIP phones. Calls coming in
via CAPI do forward the caller id to the SIP phones.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Are logfiles generated for for wine sessions?
I've installed my first Windows 32-bit app, which ran just fine.
I was a bit concerned how to specify the paths for the installer, since there are no C: D; etc. Surprisingly the installer went fine, and I was able to launch the app.
Some (wine) error messages were displayed while the app was running. I'm wondering if it would help to send the logfile to the developers so they can

32/64bit locking problem with 2.2.2
Hi there,
I have a quite ugly problem with a Samba server. The server is
running Linux 2.4.13 and Samba 2.2.2. The NFS-client is running
Linux 2.4.5. The windows homedirs are on \\server\username, the
UNIX homedirs are NFS mounted by the server.
So, whenever I access \\server\username this actually NFS-mounts
/nfs/client/home/username. I now have one client machine that
causes the following

Not reopening logfiles when HUPing
Hi,
I thought that HUPing the master smbd process (and/or the child
processes) was supposed to cause the logfiles to be reopened?
This does not appear to happen on our installation (2.0.4b2, Solaris
2.6). If I make a connection to a share, rename the logfile and
HUP/delete the daemon (either parent or child), a new file is not created.
Alternatively, how about a feature where we can signal

colorized logfiles in asterisk 1.6.0.6
Hello !
I've upgraded our testsystem from asterisk 1.4.21 to asterisk 1.6.0.6.
We 've noticed that the log files are now in colour.
I could not find a note in the upgrade section about this.
Is this a feature or a bug ?
It might be usefull to have them not in colour.
best regards
Hans

A little help installing on Redhat 7.1
I downloaded samba-2.2.2-20011013.i386.rpm and used "rpm -i
samba-2.2.2-20011013.i386.rpm" to
install on Redhat 7.1. I got a list of "conflicts with" messages on man
pages and samba did not install.
Seems Samba-client-2.0.7.36 is installed already. I want this to be a
node in a W2K network. Am I approaching this correctly? Should I run
the Samba server on NT? Can anyone

Who else can reproduce this problem?
I truely believe I've stumbled across a bug deleting directories. The
bug is either with Windows 2000 or with Samba 2.2.1a and 2.2.2. I'd
tend to think it was a Windows bug except that the problem does not
occur against earlier versions of Samba.
I've duplicated this problem deleting directories to Samba versions
2.2.2 and 2.2.1a in various configurations running on several

2.2.1a / 2.2.2 bug is back in 2.2.8
Hello,
Back when 2.2.2 was the current samba release I came across the following problem when deleting folders in Windows 2000 which I'll repost again below. After I finally got his attention with a few very wordy messages to the samba mailing list, Jeremy fixed it blazingly fast and wrote me back:
"I just found the problem and fixed it in 2.2 CVS and HEAD CVS. It was
to do with the
