openssh-2.9p2 not allowing root access?
Howdy, I just installed openssh-2.9p2 on a Solaris 8 system. I use the same configuration files as the previous installation (which was 2.9p1) however I suddenly can't login as root anymore. Loging in as a regular user + "su" still works so it's not a password issue. I'm very sure the sshd_config has "PermitRootLogin yes". Did any of the sshd_config change? Nico

openssh 2.2.0p1 and F-secure SSH ftp
Howdy, I'm sorry if this is a FAQ but I couldn't reach the openssh.com website so I can't check. Is it possible to use F-Secure SSH FTP 4.1 (client) with the openssh2.2.0p1 server? In the documentation I read that sftp is still on the todo list but "SecureFX (secure ftp)" is supported. Apparently this means there are different ways to do ftp with ssh? In that case which

OpenSSH entropy/PRNG (was: Why does ssh try to run df, netstat, arp ...?)
Nico-- SSH is trying to "get entropy" by taking the (somewhat-deterministic) output of a bunch of system commands, on those OSs that don't provide a /dev/random or its equivalent. The commands that it uses are in /etc/ssh_prng_cmds or its equivalent on your system; just comment out any of the lines (and stop/restart SSHd) in order to change which system commands are used as inputs

Why does ssh try to run df, netstat, arp ...?
Howdy, I recently had a problem with one of our servers (crashed due to power failure :-). While this shouldn't have been a problem for most of the workstations and servers on the network I noticed that I wasn't able to use ssh anymore. Ssh would simply hang during the connection. rsh and telnet however were able to connect without problem so there was no problem with the destination or

ggplot2: geom_errorbarh()
Hi all, quick question: is the optional command "width" effective in the geom_errorbarh() layer of ggplot? Cause I can't get it works on this graph http://www.4shared.com/file/116919103/93488d88/iso_2PrsH.html pdf(file = "iso_2PrsH.pdf", width = 7, height = 7) NC60.iso.graph<-ggplot( NC60.DATA ,aes(Ce,Qe)) + geom_point(col=MaCouleur1, size=4) +

Some of these details could be wrong, in that case hopefully someone can

Connection Nodes
Hello All, I have been looking over Tinc & VPE for a project and really like what I have seen in Tinc. In the VPE documentation, I came across: ----------------------------------------------------------- *connect = ondemand|never|always|disabled * Sets the connect mode (default: always). It can be always (always try to establish and keep a conenction to the given host), never (never

samba and kerberos tickets
Hi, I'm running a mixed linux/Windows network with authentication done using Active Directory. The Linux clients use Samba/Winbind for authentication (with help from the list, thanks!). I've setup smb.conf such that doing 'net ads join -Uadministrator' populates my /etc/krb5.keytab (see configuration files below). klist shows me a nice set of principals from /etc/krb5.keytab

Plotting symbols with two positions?
Thanks a lot to Demitris for a prompt answer some minutes ago on another tread (see below). To avoid excess mails on the list, I move onto next question: I have another small plotting problem that confuses me. I want to plot results from a field trial series, using the numbers of the trials as symbols in the plot. pch = as.character(trial_no) works fine, but truncates the trial number to the

update.packages()
Dear all, W.XP I recently upgraded to R2.10.0 and did what I usually do: copied all "special" libraries from the old installation and then used "update.packages()" on the command line. Nothing happened. Then I clicked on the same command on the droplist which generated "update.packages(ask='graphics')", but still with no effect. When I tried to load the

Boxplots illustrating the fixed effects in a lme object
Hello all, I posted a similar question recently but I suspect that it was not well enough formulated to trigger any answers. So I try again: Is there a way to produce boxplots (or something similar) that uses the estimated fixed effects of an lme{nlme} object? When I want to know the mean, I use estimable{gmodels} together with an appropriate matrix. I did look for a similar tool to estimable in

Centos 6 Software RAID 10 Setup
I am setting up a Centos 6.5 box to host some Openvz containers. I have a 120gb SSD I am going to use for boot, / and swap. Should allow for fast boots. Have a 4TB drive I am going to mount as /backup and use to move container backups too etc. The remaining four 3TB drives I am putting in a software RAID 10 array and mount as /vz and all the containers will go there. It will have by far the

The 'REP' term in AMMI{agricolae}
Dear all, W2k, R 2.5.1 I am trying out the AMMI function in the agricolae package, to analyse the dependence of environment for a certain cultivar. The function responds to four basic variables: ENV Environment GEN Genotype REP Replication Y Response My question concerns the 'REP' term. When I normally do an analysis of variance, the replication would refer to repeated observations

how to make a package depend on 2 or more other packages
Hi, when using puppet to install extra rpm packages on centos: how can I make a package depend on 2 or more other packages. e.g. this works: class centos4_extra_packages { package { "test1" : ensure => installed, require => package["prereq"] } } but I can''t figure out how to make test1 require
