SIGUP? Losing Share
Hello, I'm new to the list and pretty much a newbie to linux and samba. I'm quick learner though. I have been losing my samba share upon ocasion recently, below is a portion of the syslog from the time period that I think is when the share goes down. A reboot of the server or a restart of the smbd fixes the problem (....until it happens again) I don't know what SIGUP is or why

Automatic start with SuSe linux
Hi! I'm trying to start asterisk at boottime. Since SuSe has no rc.local like in Redhat linux, I need asterisk starting script to /etc/init.d/rc3.d -directory (I assume it is like that if i want automated asterisk startup). Do you have any experience how this is implemented in SuSe, and if you have some useful script for starting asterisk, I would be very, i mean VERY pleased? Thank you all

Signal 11 in nmbd beta4
Hi, I'm seeing nmbd dying from segmentation violation in 2.0 beta4. Trying to track that down right now. For the moment it holds steady but once it died within 1 minute and once in under 5 minutes. This machine shares it's interface with another nmbd (1.9.18-10) which works fine. Additionally, it serves from an automounted nfs disk from another linux (2.0) server. (this machine is

laptop wireless--orinoco_cs, can it do WPA?
Hi! I'm messing about with an old Toshiba Tecra laptop. i've got wireless working well using NetworkManager and WEP. But I'm interested in finding out if it is possible to get WPA/TKIP or other WPA variants to work with that driver. According to dmesg, boottime diagnostics include: eth0: Hardware identity 0005:0004:0005:0000 eth0: Station identity 001f:0001:0008:000a eth0: firmware

Hi All; I'm currently trying to expand my Samba env by including my IBM z/800 mainframe running 64 bit RHEL v3.0, CUPS printing environment into Samba. When I start Samba, the nmbd dies almost immediately. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. As a backend I use openldap-2.2.11 What I get in my log files is what you see below. It seems this only happens when the user prints a *.pdf file. The message shows up once in a while, definetly not for every print job that gets submitted. Printing of those *.pdf

ZFS but how?
Hi, I''m still debating wether I should use ZFS or not and how. Here is my scenario. I want to run a server with a lot of storage, that gets disks added/upgraded from time to time to expand space. I''d want to store large files on it, 15mb - 5gb per file, and they''d only need to be accessible via NFS/FTP and maybe CIFS. The machine I have dedicated for this job would be
