job fails to print via samba 2.2.6-pre1 - lpd ASCII a nd postscript test works fine...
Ah, it appears that I have confused myself... I indeed have ALL of the queues defined as JetDirect with the model specific driver selected in printconf. With this combination I am telling linux to modify the job [via the filter] and then pass it as a RAW [jetdirect] where I SHOULD just have the queue define as JetDirect with a RAW as the driver and let the job go as transmitted by the client

FreeBSD 4.5, Samba 2.2.4_1, W2K client "printer prope rties cannot be displayed"
I've experienced something like this, as well. Though I don't know if this will help, I would make sure that your NT username(s) are appropriately mapped to unix users. You may not be able to view the properties because the permissions/mapped user are mixed up. You can check this by doing a smbstatus - the user names listed as connected are the unix usernames that have been mapped to.

Will rpcclient ever get better?
I was wondering if anyone has heard of someone trying to improve on rpcclient, specifically regarding the printer-related commands. Also, it seems that rpcclient has trouble returning a large list of printers (enumprinters), like in the range of 200. Has anyone heard about this? Thanks in advance for replies :-) Thomas Klopf MMS - Gulf Region (ACS-GS contractor) -------------- next part

error: "printing subsystem unavailable" when trying t o print test page to samba server
I had that happen to me on w2k. Your spooler service is stopped. I had an invalid print driver entry in Samba and when I printed to any of the printers on my Samba server it would cause the service to stop. To fix it I replaced the printer tdb's and re-installed the drivers. Josh -----Original Message----- From: Klopf, Tom [mailto:Tom.Klopf@mms.gov] Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2002

changing printer device settings: changes not applied.
Hi, I'm using samba-2.2.1a on a Debian Linux box as a Debian package. It only serves as a printserver for about 35 printers which are all in /etc/printcap. Samba exports them all through the [printers] section in smb.conf. "guest ok = yes" for the [printers] The problem is as follows: - printadmin (having uid 0) logs onto the printserver using a win2k client - printadmin

change_trust_account_password failing
samba 2.2.4 on RedHat 7.1 everything is working. wbinfo -t reports a good secret. users can access shares. the samba server shows up in the browser & server manager. However, this server is not able to change the password on it's machine account. I log the following errors once a day: May 29 08:16:33 rhtemp1 smbd[5056]: domain_client_validate: unable to fetch domain sid. May 29

Too many handles on this pipe
I wonder if there is any resolution to this problem. I'm encountering similar situation with the Nashuatec DSC338 and P7325 printers from Ricoh using RPCS drivers. After uploading those drivers and performing basic printing preferences configuration, the print server crashed and become inaccessible. Here is the error from samba.log: [2005/07/23 12:14:19, 0]

Applying a Patch.
Hello all. I sent a message to Jerry and the list, I see it didn't appear, must have made an error. Maybe that's good, I shouldn't hassle Jerry about minor stuff. I've never applied a patch. What does it entail, I'm sure being a rocket scientist isn't part of it? I been to the site and seen the patches, they look like scripts that can be run, is this the case? How?

Samba 4.8.3 - Stand-alone server
Presently, we do not wish to use domain credentials - samba users and passwords have been set. The testparm and smbclient do not show any errors - smbclient on this server allows access as desired. When attempting to map a share in a PC environment and for a quick moment, the share is visible. However, to establish the map, me the user is asked for their credentials in a Windows domain user

Unable to enable Add/Remove Printer Drivers (3.0.0)
I used to be able to load printer drivers via "server properties". Now when I go in the printer drivers are listed and I can use the properties button but the Add/Remove buttons are greyed out. This is a Samba 3.0.0/2.4.2-SGI_XFS_1.0 box and I've tried both NT4sp6 and Win2003beta clients (both exhibit the same behaviour). I see the following in the log when I connect to
