Btrfs High IO-Wait
Hi,
I have high IO-Wait on the ods (ceph), the osd are running a v3.1-rc9
kernel.
I also experience high IO-rates, around 500IO/s reported via iostat.

this release are already in the 2.4.19-pre8, but there are some
important new fixes in the patch and users are encouraged to upgrade.
This release fixes all known outstanding bug reports.
The full patch against linux-2.4.19-pre8, and a tarball of the

Ext3: Ordered : Fsync question
Does Fsync of a file on a ext3 fs mounted with "ordered" option(the
default) result in flush the dirty data buffers in the fs that
correspond to previous transactions. In other words, if I keep writing
to file1 (lots of data), log something to file2, keep fsyncing file2
after every write - does this mean file1 data would be committed by
fsyncs on file2.

Fwd: oops with 2.4.18 and preempt patch, on SMP + ext3 machine
I sent this report sometime ago to l-k and to the preempt-patch maintainer,
but omitted to send a copy here, where some people could have clues about
the problem - so here it is:

kjournald hang on ext3 to ext3 copy
All,
I am running into a situation in which one of my ext3 filesystems is
getting hung during normal usage. There are three ext3 filesystems on a
CompactFLASH. One is mounted as / and one as /tmp. In my test, I am
copying a 100 MB file from /root to /tmp repeatedly. While doing this
test, I eventually see the copying stop, and any attempts to access /tmp
fail - if I even do ls /tmp the

EXT3 deadlock in 2.4.22 and 2.4.23-pre7 - quota related?
Hi all, and particularly Andrew and Stephen,
I recently "upgraded' one of my NFS fileservers from (patched)2.4.18
to 2.4.23-pre7 (in order to resolve a HIMEM related memory pressure
problem).
Unfortunately I have experienced what appears to be a deadlock.
The one I will describe was experienced while running 2.4.23-pre7,
though I had a very similar problem in 2.4.22 (but

ext3/kjournald overhead
Hi,
I've recently installed ext3 on an 800MB RAID5
(software) array. I am running RedHat Linux 7.1 with
the Linux kernel 2.4.12-ac3 on a 1GHz Pentium system
with 128MB RAM. I am seeing a significant amount of
write operation slowdown when running ext3 (and
kjournald), as opposed to my old ext2. The problem
seems to be associated with the times that kjournald
is accessing the disk. At

root fs not mounting ext3
I am using SuSE 7.3 compiled ext3 support into the kernel and installed it.
All my partitions load up as ext3 except / . I ran tune2fs several times,
still doesn't take on the / drive. Most recent dumpe2fs -h show no features
on that drive=, I keep going around in circles, removing .journal from / and
running tune2fs but it never works for /
What am I doing wrong? ( thanks in advance)

Regarding hashing, ext3, and kjournald
I've tried to find my answer to this question but I
have not (yet). Any assistance or expert knowledge is
greatly appreciated!
PROBLEM: mounting an ext3 volume 'read only' results
in a different md5sum hash value for the volume than
when the same volume is *not* mounted
SCENARIO:
- when I hash unmounted /dev/hda5 using 'md5sum
/dev/hda5' I get value XXX.
- when I hash

ext3 buffer leak/memory leak?
Hi,
I am a new ext3 user and I am having some problems. I seem to have
introduced a memory leak after adding ext3 support to the kernel. I noticed
when running top or viewing /proc/meminfo my free memory pool seems to be
decreasing while my buffers are increasing (around the same rate). I am
currently using a root partition and a /var partition. I have listed the
ext3 boot messages below.

several ext3 and mysql kernel crashes

I'm running about 30 dedicated MySQL machines under quite decent loads,
and they are occassionally crashing. I've been logging console messages
recently in an effort to find the cause, and some appear to be related

ext3+raid 1: Assertion failure in journal_commit_transaction()
We're getting the below errors about once a day on a system we're trying to
set up with RedHat 7.3. This has happened to multiple filesystems on
multiple physical and logical disks (basically we've got 4 drives as 2 sets
of RAID 1 arrays, details below).
Until a week ago, this box was a high-volume IMAP server running RedHat 6.2
with uptimes in the 200-day range, so I don't

Write to ext3 fs -> kjournald goes bananas
Hello,
we have just observed a rather annoying behavior one of our servers.
Specifically, when writing data to a file on an ext3fs filesystem at
around 1.5 MB/sec, network connectivity suddently started to show
signs of lag.
The ping would spike up to ~1 second every 5 seconds or so. This affects
the server in question and all hosts routing traffic through it (i.e.,
it's not a userland-only

openldap-2.2.5 test fails
Hi everybody,
i'm new on this List as well in openldap. I'm trying to set up a testserver
with ldap and samba.
Is the first time i have installed openldap. So far everything went fine. I
have compiled and installed all the
prerequiste Software (cyrus-sasl-2.1.17, openssl-0.9.7c, autoconf-2.59,
BerkeleyDB-4.2).
Compiling, make depend and make did also run through. The problem is when i
