smbclient error message interpretation
Hi all,
For sure I'm dense today. I use smbclient rarely - every few years just to
test a new setup. I'm building a replacement server, and want to go from an
smbpasswd setup to an ADS member setup. The smbpasswd setup has worked just
fine for the Windows workstations, but we'd like the convenience of just
maintaining the users in one place through Windows.
So I'm going through

error executing the smbclient
Dear Samba Team,
I have this error executing the smbclient program on a SCO Unix Open Server 5.0.2 :
dynamic linker : smbclient : error opening /usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4
Killed
I checked it, but I don't have any library with that name.
What can I do?
Thanks & regards,

installing R on slackware linux, another route
I have been reading the archives of this list and
noticed a post from Murray Jorgensen asking about how
to install R under slackware.
The replies were all to the effect that he should
compile from the source.
There is another path that is better for some
purposes.
Download the red hat binary package, the .rpm file,
then run rpm2targz on it, a slackware program designed
to convert rpm packages

smbclient failure
I am still unable to get the following command to work correctly. The
x's replace the correct entry obviously.
smbclient -Lboss -Uxxxxxx%xxxxxxxx
I decided to run the command as root preceeded by 'truss' so I could
generate a debug output.
This is the output from the command without 'truss'

SCO OpenServer 5.0.6a and missing libncurses.so.4 (fwd)
You can download Ncurses for SCO OpenServer via
ftp://ftp2.caldera.com/pub/skunkware/osr5/vols/ncurses-4.2-VOLS.tar
This is a tar archive of media images suitable for installation with
the SCO Software Manager (/etc/custom).

SCO OpenServer 5.0.6a and missing libncurses.so.4
I've downloaded Samba 2.2.6 (binaries) from SCOs Skunkware site, but
when I try and run smbclient I get a message :
dynamic linker : smbclient : error opening /usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4
Killed
I've checked and there is no libncurses.so.4 (or
libncurses.<anything> for that matter) on the system. I've also
failed to find anything relevant in either the list archive or SCOs

generating error message on smbclient -L apollo
Hello,
When I run the 'smbclient -L apollo' command at the UNIX prompt a I get an
error.
I have gone as far as I can in this DIAGNOSIS.txt file. Does anyone have
any thoughts on what may be causing my problem ?
I have made my comments to the DIAGNOSIS.txt file via '---- davidw

Also, I thought I'd pass on the output

How do I diagnose what's going wrong with a Gluster NFS mount?
Hi,
Has anyone even seen this before - an NFS mount through Gluster that gets
the filesystem size wrong and is otherwise garbled and dangerous?
Is there a way within Gluster to fix it, or is the lesson that Gluster's NFS
sometimes can't be relied on? What have the experiences been running an
external NFS daemon with Gluster? Is that fairly straightforward? Might like

Submission from: (NULL) (193.50.159.2)
Hitting ^C breaks readline history (when R is stared in an xterm).
xterm -e R
^C -> arrow key and history stop working.
For example, up-arrow gives "^[[A".
