Stress testing for ext3?
Does anyone know of a good method for exercising an ext3 file system? Perhaps something that involves power removal in between commits or in the midst of a write, and then checks for corrupt data. Do any utilities exist for this? Thanks!

Needed help to fix corrupted ext3 fs
I have been trying very hard to seek help with my very complex issue but so far none have been successful. So I would like to try this mailing list, maybe there are some experts who know what they're talking about. Please refer to my experts-exchange question, all the required information will be there. It is more practical to send you to the webpage than paste out what I've done.

Hi, By running some scripts on our target system for a while, I lost all means of access to the system. It seems that the kernel is crashed with the following error message: Assertion failure in do_get_write_access() at transaction.c:731: "(((jh2bh(jh))->b_state & (1UL << BH_Uptodate)) != 0)" Oops: Exception in kernel mode, sig: 4 We are currently running Linux version

LinkWord Language Learing Software W/ ActiveX error
Hi all, I am new to Wine and Linux. I am currently running Ubuntu 8.04 with Wine 1.0-rc2 on an old Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop. For the last couple of days, I have been trying to get my Linkword language learning software to work on my laptop (Rosetta Stone seems like a lost cause at this point). A little about this program, it is a "stand alone" type program, and by that I mean

What does the socks function of openssh hide?
Salutations, I was recently using openssh 6.8p1-3 for socks tunelling with a public wifi hotspot. I attempted to watch youtube but was notified that it was not allowed in my area. The socks server I was connected to definitely had the ability to connect to youtube, so I concluded the issue was with the public wifi hotspot. How much does socks tunneling with openssh obscure? Command : ssh -ND

EXT3-fs error
Hello friends, I am experiencing some weird beheaviour on one of my computers. I appologize for the laconic subject, but I really don't know anything more than that. I'll tell the story in chronological order. I have an HP server with five SCSI disks. The disks are _not_ in RAID. I installed FC2 on one disk. I installed a and used it for boot. The server runs some software

Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer
Hi, Running MySQL Cluster datanode (a process of large memory which checkpoints data to disk periodically) on a 2xXeon Dell PowerEdge SC1425 (2.6.9-5.ELsmp#1 SMP x86_64), and recieved this notice in /var/log/messages. The datanode process crashed, and using the partition after this seemed to hang processes, eg ls /data/ would hang. Reboot fixed this, boot.log states that the

rsync ported to BeOS-bone
Hello, here is a preliminary patch allowing rsync 2.5.6 to compile in BeOS (using the new BONE networking stack). Some explanations: - BeOS doesn't have chroot(), - the BONE networking stack export legacy network function for old apps in (linked to by default), so it's necessary to force linking to the new libraries for things to work. I've yet to get inet_ntop() to be

Utility to zero unused blocks on disk
DBAN is obsolete. NIST 800-88 for some time now says to use secure erase or enhanced security erase or crypto erase if supported. Other options do not erase data in remapped sectors. Chris Murphy

ZFS on Mac - new sighting
There''s been another sighting of ZFS on Mac. The latest developer release of Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) has a dialogue box calling out the "Zettabyte File System (ZFS)" as an option. The first publication I saw this is a French website called Mac4Ever - news/27485/zettabyte_sur_leopard/ I put up a Babelfish translation at my site,

new vorbisenc behaviour
Just got around to compiling RC3 under beos and came across an anomaly when using managed bitrates. I haven't changed the code for the beos encoder but I now get double the bitrates so vorbis_encode_init(&vi,mediaFormat.u.raw_audio.channel_count,(long)mediaFormat.u.raw_audio.frame_rate , -1, 128000, -1); now gives me vorbis files that average around 325 - 350. Is this now the correct

Comments ect
(Just a copy of the message I sent to Vorbis, better to send it here.) Hello, I'm just letting everyone know that I've begun the preliminary part of putting together a working comment system. I have a few idea's on how to implement this system. 1. What I would like to do is grab the General and Input SDK's for Winamp first. Then I would like to add to our existing Winamp

DWARF Fission + ThinLTO
Sorry, trying to catch up a bit lateā€¦ It sounds like having more than one CU per .dwo is outside of the intention of the DWARF specification (though not explicitly forbidden), since there is an implied 1-1 relationship between skeleton CU and .dwo. There is an explicit 1-1 relationship between skeleton CU and split-full CU (not .dwo). This suggests to me that if you want a .dwo to have multiple
