Hello. I have a small network with a dialup connection to the internet. When the server is online to collect mail, etc I use ntpdate to synchronise it with a local timeserver. The windows machines on the network set their time using the timeserver in Samba with a "net time ..." bat file. This works well. I would like to synchronise the linux machines using the samba time server

Hi, Currently streaming ogg isn't practical in this situation. That was one of the first things i checked into. WHen i looked i didn't see a streamer that did both ogg and mp3. Thanks. This doesn't specifically answer your question, but is it possible for you to use an ogg stream? I've been running a stream using a 48Kbps ogg (i'm sure I could push it lower too...) and it sounds to me and other people pretty much just as "nice" as a 128Kbps mp3. Thanks to the four people who replied to my original posting (appended below, subject "Win95 problem"). I've made progress but have now hit a new problem. The solution to the original problem (How do you make a "standalone" client "log on to the network"?) was simply to tick the "Server Type/Log on to network" checkbox in the dialup properties.

Thats exactly what I have ! I have 2 interfaces, the dialup networking and an ethernet card installed. I tried everything to get it to work on a per-connection basis, but it just does not go. The ONLY way I got it to work was setting the wins server in the main config and setting the dns in each of the dial-ups. What would be a good combination to use on dialup connections? I know iax is better than SIP, but I dont' know much of anything about the various codecs. Also, how well would an iax or sip solution work compared to skype as far as voice quality? If it helps, here is what I'm trying to do.
