Service Winbind stopped, what could be the reason ?
Hello dear Samba users, I recently faced an issue with samba (4.10.4) and winbind. The winbind service was stopped, so no user can acces to my samba share. I restart the winbind service, and all users can access to the share as usually... But I would like to understand why this issue occured. My samba server is a centos 7 linux, configured as domain member to a microsoft AD (windows server

Meditech and Wine
I am trying to get our Meditech application to work on a Mandrake 8.1 in GNOME. I am getting the following messages when I try to run it: The application runs, sort of. The screen is a complete mess. Warning: The Wine launcher is unable to find xmessage. The launcher script relies heavily on finding this tool, and without it, it will behave poorly. Most Linux distributions have one or

Trust relationship failed...
I'm hoping someone can give me a hand in figuring out this problem, I have seen several other similar problems in searching, but nothing that exactly matches what I am seeing here. I have recently migrated a client from a Samba server running 2.2.7 (Redhat 9) to 3.0.2 (Fedora 1). The samba installation is running as a PDC for 5 Win XP workstations and was working perfectly prior to the

OK: First, please respond to me directly, as I'm not on the TNG list. Here's the situation: I will be setting up a "computer lab" for 30-40 PC's with various users (students). Here are my needs: 1) One Touch (point) User administration (the simpler the better) 2) Simplest set of LINUX SW possible 3) NO NT PDC 4) All clients are W2K. 5) Want

NT_LOGON_FAILURE setting up a Linux BDC
Hi, We're trying to set up a Red Hat 9 box as a BDC for a domain, the PDC for that domain is another RH9 machine. To do it we're using samba 2.2.7a and openLDAP 2.0.7 in both machines. We've followed the instructions from the Samba-PDC-Howto and Samba-BDC-Howto from the samba.org. The PDC works fine but when I try to list the shares of the BDC using my user I get a NT_LOGON_FAILURE

W2k no longer has Trust to samba pdc
SMB.conf, smbpasswd, log files attached to this message. I have several W2k Workstations, with a SAMBA 2.2.3 PDC. Looking at the logs it seems that stevedallas (W2K client) is getting validation errors as "visitor" (which DOES exist...) I am not sure what happened, but I must have removed all of the important parts of the server validation. OUTLAND is domain, W2k/ clients are

Lack of physical memory evidences
In pre-ZFS era, we had observable parameters like scan rate and anonymous page-in/-out counters to discover situations when a system experiences a lack of physical memory. With ZFS, it''s difficult to use mentioned parameters to figure out situations like that. Has someone any idea what we can use for the same purpose now ? Thanks in advance, Dmeetry This message posted from

lack of ->remove in 9p virtio driver
Hi Eric, Just cleaning up patches for 2.6.25 merge, and noticed that net/9p/trans_virtio.c doesn't have a remove function. This will crash when removing the module (console doesn't have one because it can't really be removed). I'll push the latest queue in a couple of hours: the most important thing is that it's now drivers' responsibility to call (the new!)

test deviation from a binomial distribution - lack of 50:50
Dear R-users, I have a data set where each observation consists of a number of trials (n.trials) that varies between 5 and 7, 6 being most common. Each trial can take either of two outcomes, success or failure. A dummy data set: n.trials <- sample(5:7, 50, replace=T, prob=c(0.2, 0.6, 0.2)) success <- rbinom(50, n.trials, p=0.5) failure <- n.trials - success I know I could test for a

Extrapolating data points for individuals who lack them
Hi, We have an experiment where individuals responses were measured over 5 days. Some responses were not obtained because we only allowed individuals to respond within a limited time-frame. These individuals are given the maximum response time as they did not respond, yet we feel they may have done if given time (and by looking at the rest of their responses over time, the non-response days stand

regarding lack of quadratic term in solve.qp
I was thinking about my solve.qp problem on my way home tonight and I think I can fix it by making Dmat the identity matrix. I'll check this weekend to make sure but my thinking is that doing this will make all the "variances" the same so that they shouldn't come into play during the evaluation of the objective function. Thanks though for any confirmation of this or other

mkdiskimage: perl error and lack of checks
Per http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,14323.0.html I can confirm: 1) Specifying an MBR ID results in an error due to the lack of a "use" statement. 2) Specifying a non-decimal value may result in $id being undefined. I have a patch for the first however should #2 abort operation, attempt to translate 4 ASCII bytes to an int or print a warning and use a random value?
