Samba 3rc4 PDC - Trouble joining W2k to domain (no mapping?)
I am running Samba 3rc4 as a PDC. When trying to join my Windows 2000 workstation to the domain, I get the following error (on the win2k box): No mapping between account names and security IDs was done. I've searched Google, the archives of this list, the docs and a Ouija board for answers, with no success.. Can anyone provide a pointer to what it is I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

Request for Comments: Interoperability Paper
To save posting a large text document to the list, here's the paper in html on a public web site: http://www.geocities.com/orville_torpid/papers/interoperability.html The paper is nominally about PC NetLink (I work of Sun), but it's really about the interoperability of most of the current SMB programs. Comments, suggestions and brickbats happily accepted! --dave

nmblookup failing
Hi, I can't get "net view \\<servername>" to work from my Windows test client. It fails with "The network path was not found". I followed some of the online debugging guides and have found that a couple of the test nmblookups on the server are failing. The server is named 'fileserver1' and its IP address is 155.2.196.251 for the purpose of this email.

Initial install - networking problem
Hi, I'm just installing Samba for the first time and have a problem with name resolution on my test client. Samba 3.0.8 is installed on a RHES system named 'fileserver1 (.our.xxx.edu)'. The clients are Windows 2000 and XP systems. This is a subnet that is part of a larger campus network. There is no Domain, just a workgroup called 'our_adm'. I have a very simple smb.conf file

Mutli-Homed Subnetting - Advice please
Hi All, I have a problem with a growing network. I inherited the network at about 200 machines and it's now reached 300 at which point the cracks are starting to show. I have no budget to speak of but need to up the bandwitdh so I'm looking at sticking an extra Gigabit NIC into my PDC and splitting the network into two subnets. I have two kinds of data, static and dynamic. Static files

FW: R memory management
Hi, I'm using R to collect data for a number of exchanges through a socket connection and constantly running into memory problems even though task I believe is not that memory consuming. I guess there is a miscommunication between R and WinXP about freeing up memory. So this is the code: for (x in 1:length(exchanges.to.get)) { tickers<-sqlQuery(channel,paste("SELECT Symbol

Re: smbd blocking in receive_smb (how to trigger procedure - LONG)
Hi, We've been experiencing this same problem, however, with Samba 3.0.7-1.3E.1 running on RedHat ES 3.0. We've also experienced this on 2.2.7x on RedHat 9. The problem has been intermittently happening over the last several weeks, (I've posted list about it). This message, along with the others in the thread, describes the symptoms that we're seeing, however, I haven't

My first Asterisk - Not recognizing X100P clone
Hi, I'm cutting my teeth setting up a home asterisk server, but having some trouble getting Zaptel to recognize a X100P clone PCI (Motorola SM56 which should work according to various wiki's). What struck me was that the "/proc/interrupts" do not include IRQ 11 as the "lpcpi -v" is reporting. Am I missing something fundamental here? Any hint is greatly

OpenSSH on MIPS (Big Endian) uclibc shows empty directory listing when connected with sftp
I've set up an OpenSSH on my MIPS (Big Endian) uclibc based system .. for development purposes on a qemu environment and for production an a settop box with real hardware. I experienced that sftp connected clients always get an empty directory listing. Same with OpenSSH at all as also with dropbear in combination with OpenSSH's sftp-server binary. More digging into details I checked the

Survival Plots by Strata
All, I am struggling to create a survival plot using LTRC data for each year of a 10 year period. I have a set of individuals (birds) where 'entry' is the day of the year (1-365) they are released (let out of pens) into the wild (2 year data snip below). 'Entry' (e.g., day of year the first bird is released for each year) is highly variable, ranging from 48 to >250. When I

PreBeta4/First Results
Hi there, I encoded the hard to encode piece ":wumpscut: - mother" with the new prebeta4 encoder (windows). As I crashed my harddrive I've to reinstall linsuxx again and double check the results, maybe there's a difference between the platforms (as far as I remember there was such a thing before). This song is pretty good for fast listening-tests as there are plenty of
