AIX/Samba vs. Large Files
I'm having trouble getting Samba 3.0.11 working properly on AIX 5.1.0.0. ?I've got a share set up, and I can connect fine, but I can't get it to transfer files >1GB. ?I've already set ulimit fsize to -1, and I can transfer large files via scp to the same directory just fine. ?The directory is on a JFS volume. There are no quotas on this system. I've even tried adding

Q: problem with samba on AIX / RS6000 (Unix)
Hello, I'm trying to configure samba on AIX / RS6000. I have the smbd part of it running well . The nmbd part is giving us problems. Nmbd daemon dies as soon as started ! When I issue a 'ps -ef ' to see the processes, smbd runs but nmbd never. When using 'smbclient -L JAWS ' to debug the problem, I have the following output : Unknown parameter encountered : "local

Samba 3.0.11 on AIX 4.3
Hi All, Pls has anyone successfully installed Samba 3 on an AIX 4.3 (RS6000) system? The only precompiled binary I was able to find - v 3.0.4 from bullfreeware.com did not work after installation. I haven't been successful trying to install it from source. I have downloaded various requisite programs such as kerberos (which won't compile either) and openldap. I am particularly

[LLVMdev] Problems building llvm on AIX
Hi, Has anyone succeeded in building llvm on AIX? Currently I am investigating several tools for code analyses and I came upon Clang. We at CCV run our core business applications on RS6000/AIX. At our department we develop those applications. The reviews on clang look very promising. I was able to build and run it on Linux (SuSE 12.1) without any problems. I tested it with valgrind sources and

Samba 2.0.6 Compilation Warning under Solaris 7
I am trying to install Samba 2.0.6 under Solaris 7 (latest Sun-recommended patches applied) using the GNU C compiler "gcc version 2.95.1 19990816 (release)". It seems strange to me that there is a compilation warning because the purpose of the wrapper for which the compilation warning is issued is to make sure typing and results are correct. The problem appears to be due to a

Problem building OpenSSH-3.8p1 on AIX 4.2.1 and 4.3.3 systems
Dear Sirs, just tried to compile openssh-3.8p1 on two IBM RS6000 boxes (models 390 and F50) having AIX 4.2.1.0 and AIX 4.3.3.11 (all maintenance levels applied). I use IBM 'XLC' compiler version 3.1 (xlC.C 3.1.4.0 with xcC.rte 4.0.2.0 and xlC.aix43.rte 4.0.2.1). On both machines there was a slight problem when compiling, because both <utmp.h> and <utmpx.h> files were included,

Compiling R 1.3.0 on AIX 4.3.3 and libz.a
We use R 1.3.0 in a Java application and it's been successfully deployed on IRIX, Solaris and Linux machines. I've got a problem with R on our RS6000 (AIX 4.3.3) which I'm hoping I can solve by posting here. R is compiled and bundled with our application (on all UNIX platforms) as follows: 1. R is configured using: configure --with-x=no --with-tcltk=no 2. Once compiled (with gcc) and

AIX 4.3.3 + sshd = bug
Hello, I believe that there is a bug in OpenSSH that affects its usage on AIX 4.3.3 - Maintenance Level 3 and higher. This bug was introduced by a change by IBM in the "/usr/lib/drivers/ptydd" driver, and it affected IBM's own telnetd daemon (reference

[LLVMdev] RFC: Patch for Exceptions
Hi all, This is a (very) rough patch to fix building LLVM with exceptions on PPC Darwin. Basically, it puts the burden of adding the "--enable-eh" on the specific target, which is where I think it should go. If this is okay, then I can clean the patch up and submit it. -bw Index: gcc/llvm-backend.cpp =================================================================== ---

checking for libusb in configure.in
Peter, similar to the OpenSSL test and "with_ssl", can we make the libusb test in configure.in depend on "with_usb=yes"? It's not as important as not linking against OpenSSL unless requested, but it caused a bit of confusion when I was trying to rebuild. I forgot that "--with-drivers=all" does not imply "--with-usb", and it was not registering that the

Compiling R on RS6000 AIX 4.3
Hi, I've been searching through the R help archives and came across only one AIX compilation question in March, which received no public responses. I'm currently having the same problems with the "Illegal instruction" and core dump of running R 1.0.1 on AIX 4.3. Firstly, the R distribution was missing some FORTRAN routines, which I found on the net and added, by modifying
